Moon Phases Guide

Showing for a generic location

A lunar month lasts about 29.5 days and moves through eight moon phases — New, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full, Waning Gibbous, Last Quarter, Waning Crescent. Each phase marks how much of the Moon’s Earth-facing side is lit by the Sun, from fully dark at the new moon to fully lit at the full moon.

How to work with the lunar cycle

The cycle is often used as a rhythm for planning: intentions at the New Moon, action at First Quarter, results at the Full Moon, review and release on the way down.

The waxing half suits starting and building; the waning half suits finishing and clearing. That is the whole framework — the rest is detail, and each phase page covers its own.

Nothing about it is prescriptive. It works as a schedule you did not have to invent, which for a lot of people is the useful part.

It's important to remember that the lunar cycle can serve as a guide, helping you focus on what’s most beneficial during each phase. By aligning with the lunar cycle, you can harness the available energy more effectively, allowing you to make progress toward your goals in a more natural and effortless way.

Additionally, you can also use the lunar cycle to align your intentions and actions with the natural rhythms of the universe. Many people find that working with the lunar cycle helps them to feel more connected to the natural world, and to develop a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of all things.

Be flexible and adaptable as you use the lunar cycle as a guide, and to always listen to your intuition and inner guidance. And let the Moon brighter your path!
