π Purifying Bath Ritual for the New Moon
The new moon marks the beginning of a new cycle. For me, it's the perfect time for energetic, emotional, physical, and mental cleansing. A mindful bath can be a simple yet powerful way to support this process, especially when you need a moment of peace or you're feeling anxious like me.
Preparing the Space
Before you begin, create a peaceful environment (if you can π ):
- Keep the bathroom clean and tidy
- Use dim lighting or light a candle
- Play soft music or enjoy the silence
The goal is to help you feel calm and present. Create whatever atmosphere works best for you.
Preparing the Water
Fill the tub with hot or warm water. If you don't have a bathtub, you can also do this in the shower.
Add:
- A handful of salt (sea salt or coarse salt works best)
- Optional: herbs like rosemary, bay leaves, or chamomile. I sometimes use lavender and rose petals or dried roses
These elements are traditionally associated with purification and renewal, and lavender is known for promoting calm and relaxation.
Setting Your Intention
Before getting in, take a few moments to reflect:
- Identify what you want to release (tension, worries, fatigue, recurring thoughts)
Setting a clear intention helps give the ritual meaning.
The Bath
During your bath (10 to 20 minutes):
- Take slow, mindful breaths
- Visualize letting go of what you want to release
- Optionally, gently run your hands over your body as a symbol of cleansing
- Another tip I like: add crystals and gemstones to the water
Focus on connecting with the present moment.
Closing the Ritual
When you're done:
- Rinse your body with clean water
- Visualize renewal or a fresh start
Afterward, try to maintain the calm atmosphere, avoiding distractions like your phone or loud noises for a few minutes.
Integration (New Moon)
To complete the process, try this simple exercise:
- Write down three intentions or goals for the new cycle
Keep them specific and achievable so they're easier to integrate into your daily life.
This type of ritual doesn't require complex elementsβits effectiveness comes from mindful attention, clear intention, and conscious presence.
I hope you enjoy this and find it helpful π€β¨
