When Healing Heals the Healer Too

Rewriting My Relationship with Masculine Energy
In the world of energy healing, we often speak about transformation as something that happens to the client. A release. A shift. A remembering.
But sometimes the healing moves both ways.
And sometimes, it surprises you.
For most of my career, I have predominantly worked with women. This hasn’t been by accident, it has been intentional, intuitive, and, if I’m honest, shaped by my own lived experiences. My work is deeply personal. It’s sacred. The space I hold requires openness, trust and at times, a level of energetic and physical vulnerability that cannot be bypassed.
Because of this, I’ve always been discerning about who I work with, particularly when it comes to male clients. If a man steps into my space, it is usually because he has been recommended, vouched for, or has an energy that feels undeniably safe.
This isn’t about exclusion. It’s about energetic integrity.
And yet, today reminded me that healing is never static and it evolves as we do.
A Different Kind of Session
Recently, I worked with a male client- a young, professional sportsman who comes to me periodically for energetic alignment and targeted healing work.
From the outside, he embodies a very grounded, physical way of living. His world is performance, movement, results, structure and discipline. You might assume that energy work, subtle, intuitive, often unseen, would sit far outside of his comfort zone.
But the thing is, men don’t feel less. They’ve just often been taught to interpret feeling differently.
Where many of my female clients naturally lean into emotion, expression and exploration, I’ve noticed that men tend to approach the work more pragmatically. They want to understand. To track. To make sense of what’s happening.
So I meet them there.
My language shifts. My delivery becomes more grounded, more direct but never less powerful.
Because energy doesn’t need to be dressed up in poetry and flowery language to be real.
Nothing Left Off the Table
This session was different.
There was a moment, one of those quiet, intuitive nudges, where I knew I wasn’t to dilute or soften anything. No filtering. No adjusting. No “translating” the experience into something more palatable.
Instead, I allowed the work to unfold in its full depth.
He felt everything.
The energetic shifts.
The physical responses in his body.
The subtle, yet undeniable connection to something greater, what I would describe as his higher self, guiding, informing, realigning.
And what struck me most wasn’t just his awareness, it was his openness.
There was no resistance. No scepticism dressed as humour. No need to intellectualise the experience to make it acceptable.
He simply, allowed.
The Moment After
If you’ve ever held space for someone in a deep healing session, you’ll know that the real confirmation doesn’t come during the work, it comes after.
In the stillness.
In the integration.
In the way they feel when they return to themselves.
And he was radiant. I kid you not, his face was alight.
Laughing. Smiling. Almost in disbelief—but not in a questioning way. In a joyful recognition.
As if something within him had shifted so profoundly, yet so naturally, that it could only be met with lightness.
That was the moment I felt something shift for me, too.
Not just pride in the work. Not just gratitude for the trust.
But healing.
For me.
Softening the Edges of the Masculine
We don’t often talk about how our own histories shape the spaces we create as healers.
We speak about boundaries and rightly so.
We speak about safety and rightly so.
But beneath that, there are often stories.
Experiences that have taught us where to contract. Where to protect. Where to keep certain energies at a distance.
For me, masculine energy has, at times in my life, felt unpredictable. Something to approach with caution. Something to carefully navigate rather than fully welcome.
And yet today, I was reminded of a deeper truth:
Masculine energy, when grounded, present, and open, is not something to fear.
It is something to work with.
To honour and support.
To help recalibrate, just as we do with any other energy that has been shaped by the world it has moved through.
Healing Beyond the Session
What I experienced wasn’t just a successful client session.
It was a quiet rewriting.
A softening of old edges and a widening of what feels possible.
A reminder that healing is not linear and it certainly isn’t one-sided.
Because while he left feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected…
I left feeling something just as powerful.
Safe.
Expanded.
And unexpectedly, grateful for the very energy I had once learned to keep at arm’s length.
An Invitation to Stay Open
As healers, as humans, as souls navigating this layered, complex experience, we are always evolving.
Our work evolves and our boundaries evolve. Our understanding evolves.
And sometimes, the very spaces we approach with the most caution are the ones that hold the potential for the deepest healing.
Not because we abandon our discernment.
But because we allow it to be guided by presence, not past.
There is something profoundly beautiful about witnessing someone come home to themselves.
But there is something even more powerful about realising that you’ve arrived somewhere new within yourself too.
