The Pleiades were born when a massive molecular cloud collapsed under its own gravity. From the whirlwind of compressed matter, stars ignited and continue traveling through space together, bound by their shared origin. The dust that still surrounds them reflects their blue light, creating that ethereal halo that looks like luminous mist.

On clear nights, in the constellation Taurus, a small "cluster" of light catches the eye. This is the Pleiades (M45) โ€” a young star cluster made up of hundreds of stars born from the same cloud of gas and dust about 100 million years ago. The most visible ones shine in blue tones, a sign of youth and high temperature.

Scientifically, they're a natural laboratory for understanding stellar formation and evolution. Being young and relatively close to Earth, they help astronomers calibrate models of stellar age, brightness, and distance. Culturally, they once served as a calendar: many ancient peoples marked planting and harvest seasons by their appearance in the sky.

In astrology, the Pleiades are considered fixed stars with strong symbolic impact when they touch sensitive points in the chart (such as the Sun, Moon, or Ascendant). Traditionally linked to emotional intensity and spiritual vision, they can amplify intuitive gifts โ€” but also call for discernment to avoid getting lost in illusions. In Taurus, they speak to themes of values, stability, and the concrete building of what the soul recognizes as true.

Known as the "Seven Sisters" in various traditions, the Pleiades symbolize initiation, guidance, and ancestral memory. For many spiritual paths, they represent a point of mythical origin โ€” a reminder that we belong to something greater. Their energy is associated with sensitivity, connection to subtle realms, and the awakening of collective consciousness.

Looking at the Pleiades is more than observing a cluster:

it's remembering that we too are made of stardust โ€” and that, even in the vastness of the cosmos, we travel in constellation.

In the next article:

During the first days of March, the Moon will pass close to Uranus and the Pleiades cluster, in the constellation Taurus.
