Leo Season🦁

the time to stop hiding your light

There are moments in the year that feel like an inward breath.

Cancer season invites us to look at our home, our emotions, our roots, and everything that makes us feel safe. It's a soft, intimate energy, almost like curling up under a blanket while it's chilly outside. But then, almost without realizing it, the landscape shifts, the Sun moves into Leo, and something begins to warm within us.

It's not just summer reaching its peak—it's an invitation to remember who we are when we stop living to meet expectations and start living from the heart.

In astrology, Leo is ruled by the Sun, the center of our solar system. Just as all the planets orbit around it, this season reminds us that each person also has their own center, an essence, a spark, a unique way of being in the world that doesn't need to compare itself to anyone else's.

And perhaps that's Leo's true message.

It's not a sign that comes to tell us "look at me." It comes to ask us, are you allowing yourself to be who you truly are?

Because growing up often means learning to hide when necessary.

We're taught not to make too much noise, not to stand out too much, not to get too excited, not to be "too sensitive," "too creative," "too different." Almost without noticing, we start dimming little parts of ourselves to fit in, convinced that being accepted is more important than being authentic.

Leo arrives to break that spell.

And it does so with a question that can be as uncomfortable as it is liberating: What part of you has been waiting too long for permission to come out?

Maybe you've always wanted to write but never dared. Maybe you dream of changing jobs, learning something new, traveling alone, or painting again like you did when you were little. Maybe you've simply been hiding the way you feel for too long so as not to make others uncomfortable.

There's a misconception about this sign. Many people associate Leo energy with ego or the constant need for attention. But in reality, Leo speaks to something much deeper: self-worth.

There's a big difference between wanting to be admired and knowing that your light has a place in this world. When someone knows their value, they don't need to constantly prove they have it.

The Sun never questions whether it deserves to rise each morning. It simply rises.

And that's one of the most beautiful lessons this season brings.

This year, the Sun enters Leo just as Mercury is finishing its retrograde. Over the past few weeks, you may have felt conversations getting complicated, certain decisions seeming stuck, or the past knocking at your door again. It's been a time for reviewing, rethinking things, listening more than acting.

With Mercury resuming its direct motion just a day later, the feeling gradually shifts. Not because everything suddenly resolves, but because there starts to be more clarity—words find their place, decisions feel lighter, what seemed confusing before begins to sort itself out.

And that fits perfectly with Leo's energy. Because it's hard to shine when we're still trying to understand ourselves.

But once we've done that inner work, the time comes to step back into the world.

Not to prove anything, but to share who we are. Leo also speaks to the inner child.

Think for a moment about how you were when you were five or six years old. Before anyone judged your drawings, your way of dancing, or your singing. You probably did things because they made you happy, not because you were good at them.

Over time, we stop playing and start performing. And maybe that's why so many people feel nostalgic without quite knowing why. They don't miss childhood—they miss the freedom to create without fear of getting it wrong.

Leo season invites us to reclaim that space, to write even if no one will read it, to dance even if we can't keep the beat, to start that project that's been waiting in a notebook for months, to dress in a way that makes us smile, to say "I love you," to laugh louder.

Because creativity doesn't belong only to artists—it's a way of relating to life. Of course, Leo also has a shadow.

When we forget our own worth, we start seeking it outside ourselves—we need constant approval, recognition, or applause to feel like we're shining. And without realizing it, we end up handing our light over to other people's opinions.

Because healing isn't always about looking at wounds—sometimes healing also means feeling excitement again, playing again, laughing again, trusting in life again. And perhaps that's the most beautiful medicine Leo brings each summer: reminding us that we came here to illuminate, not to hide.

A small ritual to start your day with Leo energy

Now I want to give you a little gift, because sometimes we don't take a few minutes for ourselves, and you don't need to wait for something extraordinary to happen to connect with this season. Sometimes it's enough to give yourself ten minutes each morning.

When you wake up, open the window and let natural light touch your face for a couple of minutes. Breathe deeply and feel the warmth of the Sun as a reminder that a new day is also a new opportunity to begin.

Then, place a hand on your chest, right where your heart beats, and ask yourself silently:

"How can I honor my most authentic self today?"

Don't search for a grand answer—today it might be smiling more, tomorrow it might be saying no, or starting that project you've been putting off for weeks.

Now think of three things you like about yourself. They don't have to be big qualities—it could be your way of caring for those you love, your creativity, your sensitivity, or even your ability to get back up when things get difficult.

Before checking your phone, do something purely for pleasure for five minutes—read a few pages of a book, stretch your body, dance to your favorite song, tend to a plant, or make breakfast slowly.

And before you leave the house, look at yourself in the mirror for a moment and repeat:

"I don't need to make myself small so others feel comfortable. Today I choose to take up my space with love and authenticity."

Perhaps that's the essence of Leo season—not becoming someone different, but remembering that the light you've been searching for outside has always been waiting, patiently, inside you.
