Eclipse Season: Do Less, Notice More

I’ve been thinking a lot about how we approach eclipse season.

There’s so much advice around manifestation, intentions, rituals and what we should or shouldn’t be doing. But actually, I think this is one of those times when doing a little less might serve us much better.

Eclipses have a funny way of bringing things into your awareness. Sometimes gently, sometimes not so gently!

So rather than trying to direct everything, perhaps this is a good time to step back and pay attention to what’s already unfolding in your life.

What feels good?

What doesn’t?

Who do you feel most yourself around?

What have you been tolerating that you know, deep down, isn’t really working for you anymore?

And here’s the bit I think is really important…

How long have you known?

Because it’s very easy to get used to something that doesn’t feel right. It often feels like the safest option.

We tell ourselves it will change. We make excuses for it. We convince ourselves that perhaps we’re asking too much, being too sensitive or that things will eventually sort themselves out.

And, sometimes they do.

And sometimes they don’t.

Sometimes nothing changes because we haven’t changed anything.

That doesn’t mean everything is your fault. Life is far more complicated than that. But there is something incredibly powerful about being willing to look at our own part in things.

Where am I contributing to this situation?

What am I avoiding?

What am I holding onto because I’m frightened of what might happen if I let go?

Where am I expecting somebody else to make me feel differently about my own life?

Those questions aren’t always comfortable, but they are powerful and can be incredibly freeing.

Looking at ourselves first isn’t about blaming ourselves. It’s about taking our power back.

And I think we need to remember to look at the good stuff too.

It’s very easy to use a period of deep reflection as an opportunity to list everything that’s wrong with our lives. Please don’t do that.

Notice what is working.

Notice the people who love you well.

Notice the moments when you feel peaceful, content or completely yourself.

Notice how much you’ve changed and how much you’ve already overcome.

There is so much wisdom in simply paying attention.

So, between these eclipses, I’m inviting you to take the pressure off a little.

You don’t need to have the perfect affirmation.

You don’t need to manifest your way out of every uncomfortable feeling.

You don’t need to know exactly what happens next.

Go for a walk. Sit quietly. Have a cup of tea. Spend some time away from the noise. Listen to your own thoughts without immediately trying to change them.

And see what you notice.

Because your intuition doesn’t always arrive as a huge, dramatic knowing.

Sometimes it’s the quiet feeling you keep having.

The thing you keep thinking about.

The situation that never quite sits right.

The little voice that says, I think I’m ready for something different.

Eclipse season and this delicious corridor we are in, can be a beautiful time to listen to that voice.

Not necessarily to make huge decisions overnight, but to become more honest with yourself about what you want, what you don’t want and what you might finally be ready to release.

And who knows…

Perhaps what you make space for next will be far more beautiful than the thing you were so afraid to let go of.

For now, though?

Do a little less.

Notice a little more.

And trust yourself enough to listen. ✨
