Video guidelines for MoonX authors

Video follows the same community rules as articles: calm, honest, useful content for people interested in the moon, tarot, astrology and mindful living. This page explains what works, what doesn't, and how a video is reviewed.

Video is open to some authors while we try it out. If you don't see Upload video in your cabinet, press Request access and our team will answer.

What you can publish

Your own video that fits one of the MoonX categories and gives viewers something real to take away.

  • Explainers and lessons: moon phases, tarot spreads, astrology basics, rituals, journaling, mindful routines.
  • Guided practices: meditations, breathing, gentle movement, in your own voice.
  • Readings and forecasts you record yourself, with a clear explanation of how you work.
  • Vertical (9:16) and horizontal (16:9) videos are both welcome.
  • Videos in any of the 14 languages MoonX supports. Choose the language you speak in the video: readers who watch videos in that language find it there. A video is not translated, so write its title and description in the same language.

A video you have already posted on your own channels is welcome too.

Pick one category and add a few tags. A video should clearly belong to its category, in the same way an article does: if the theme is hard to see, the reviewer will ask you to change the category or the content.

What does not fit

The topics that are outside MoonX for articles are outside it for video.

  • Drugs, including psychedelics: no use, promotion or "how-to".
  • Politics, activism and news commentary.
  • Videos where the moon, tarot or mindful living is only a label on something else: a product pitch, a channel intro, a vlog with no theme.
  • Screen recordings, slideshows of stock images with generic text, or very short clips with nothing to take away.

If you are not sure whether your topic fits, ask Support before you record.

Be respectful, safe and private

Video shows faces, voices and places, so privacy matters even more than in text.

  • Treat every viewer and every person with respect. No hate, harassment, bullying or demeaning jokes about any group.
  • No graphic violence, sexual content, nudity or shocking imagery.
  • Do not film or record other people without their clear consent. This includes voices, messages and screenshots of private chats.
  • Do not show children. Do not share anyone's address, phone number or other personal details.
  • Do not encourage dangerous acts, extreme fasting, or anything that could hurt the viewer or others.
  • Keep fire, candles, herbs and other practices safe. If a practice carries risk, say so on camera.

Professional advice and sensitive topics

Spiritual and wellbeing content is not medical, legal or financial advice, and a video must never present it as one.

  • Do not promise to cure, treat or diagnose any condition, and do not tell viewers to stop medication or skip a doctor.
  • Do not give investment, legal or tax instructions. Do not predict a viewer's health, death, pregnancy or lottery results.
  • When a video touches health, relationships, money or loss, say in the first minute that it is guidance for reflection and not professional advice, and repeat the note in the description.
  • Be careful with grief, anxiety and trauma. Speak gently and avoid fear-based language ("curses", "doom", "you must act now").
  • If a video covers self-harm, suicide or an eating disorder, do not describe methods. Close with a note that help exists and encourage the viewer to reach out to a local helpline or a trusted person.

Be genuine

  • Tell us when AI helped. If AI wrote parts of the script, made images or generated a voice, say so in the description.
  • No videos that are fully AI-generated, no AI voice presented as yours, no deepfakes and no impersonation of another person, teacher or brand.
  • Do not buy or fake views, likes or comments, and do not ask viewers to do so.
  • No ads or sales pitches: no affiliate links, discount codes or "buy now" calls. A short, honest mention of who you are is fine.
  • Do not claim credentials, results or testimonials you cannot back up.

Copyright and music

You may publish only what you own or have the right to use. Music is the most common reason a video is sent back.

Safe to use:

  • your own music, recorded and composed by you;
  • tracks from a royalty-free or licensed library, if the licence allows use on a platform like MoonX. Keep the licence or receipt;
  • silence or natural sound. Many practices work best without music.

Not allowed:

  • popular songs, even a few seconds, even in the background;
  • music from other videos, streaming services or "no copyright" playlists with no licence you can show;
  • film clips, TV, other creators' videos, and images or fonts you have no right to use;
  • "Creative Commons" tracks that require attribution or forbid commercial use, unless you follow the licence exactly.

Adding a video from YouTube

You can paste a link instead of uploading a file. The same rules apply.

  • The video must be on your own channel. The reviewer checks that the channel is yours and may ask you to show it.
  • It must be public or unlisted, allow embedding, and not be marked "made for kids".
  • It must be free to watch: no paywalled or members-only videos.
  • It plays in the official YouTube player, so YouTube's own terms, ads and age restrictions apply.
  • If the video is later made private, deleted or blocked, it is removed from MoonX.

Add the title, description, category, tags and cover on MoonX as you would for an upload.

Technical requirements

ItemRequirement
FileMP4 or MOV, up to 3 GB, from a phone or a computer
OrientationVertical 9:16 or horizontal 16:9
ResolutionAt least 720p on the short side. 4K is fine: we convert it
LengthFrom 30 seconds to 10 minutes
SoundClear voice, no loud background noise, steady volume
CoverA frame from the video, or your own image in the same orientation
TitleClear and specific, no all-caps, no clickbait
DescriptionA few sentences about what the video covers, plus any AI or advice note; no ads
Category and tagsOne category and a few tags

After you upload, we prepare a copy that plays on every phone and browser. This takes a few minutes; you can fill in the details meanwhile. Keep the page open until the upload finishes.

Film in good light and keep the camera steady. Text on the picture is fine if it is easy to read and does not hide the main image. Avoid watermarks of other platforms and logos of other brands.

How video review works

Every video is watched by a person on the MoonX team before it goes live. We aim to answer within 3 working days.

  • Published or scheduled: all good.
  • Needs changes: the reviewer writes what to fix. Change it and submit again.

If you disagree with a decision, write to Support.

The video file itself cannot be swapped: to use a different file, remove the video in the editor and upload a new one. After publishing, changes work the same way as for an article.

Videos are not part of the monthly payments.

What MoonX can do

If a video breaks these rules, MoonX can remove it and tell you why, and in serious or repeated cases place your account on hold while we look into it. Most issues are fixed with a clear conversation and a small change.

Checklist before you submit

The editor asks you to confirm each of these:

  • The video is mine, or I have the right to use everything in it.
  • The music is mine or licensed, and I can show the licence.
  • No one appears without their consent, and no children are shown.
  • The topic fits one MoonX category and is not politics, news or drugs.
  • Nothing harmful: no violence, nudity, hate or dangerous practices, and any risk is said on camera.
  • No health, legal or money promises; on sensitive topics the "not professional advice" note is on camera and in the description.
  • AI help is noted in the description; no fully AI-generated video, AI voice or deepfake.
  • No ads, sales links or bought engagement.
