Community rules
MoonX is a place to explore the moon, the stars and the inner life, together. These rules apply to everyone who writes or comments on MoonX: authors in their articles and replies, and readers in their comments. They sit beside our Terms of Use, which are the legal agreement for using MoonX.
Be respectful
- Disagree with ideas, not with people. Write to others as you would want them to write to you.
- No harassment or bullying. Do not insult, mock, target or pile on anyone, and do not keep writing to someone who has asked you to stop.
- No hate. Do not attack or demean people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability or illness.
- No threats, and nothing that encourages violence against anyone.
- No sexual content, and never anything sexual that involves minors.
Be genuine
- No spam: no repeated comments, no chains, no comments that exist only to place a link.
- No advertising in comments. Do not sell products, readings or services in comments.
- Authors: your author profile may link to your website and your social accounts. In an article, you may mention your own book, course or practice where it truly helps the reader. An article written to sell something is not an article, and it will not be published.
- No fake activity. Do not use several accounts, automated tools or paid services to view, like or comment, and do not offer anything in exchange for views, likes or comments.
- Do not pretend to be someone else, including MoonX staff.
- Authors: say when you used AI tools in your work, and do not submit work that was fully generated by AI (our Editorial standards).
No professional advice presented as such
Many MoonX articles touch on health, love, work and money. Share what you know and what you have lived, but do not present it as medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. Never tell a reader to stop, skip or replace a treatment, a medicine or professional help. See "Sensitive topics" below.
Respect copyright
- Post only what you wrote, or what you have the right to use.
- Credit quotations and their authors. Use only images that you made, that you have permission to use, or that are licensed for this use.
- If you believe something on MoonX copies your work, send a copyright notice as our Terms of Use describe.
Respect other people's privacy
- Do not share anyone's personal details (home address, phone number, e-mail address, private messages, documents or photos) without their permission.
- Do not publish a reading, birth chart or personal story about a private person without their permission.
- Do not share identifying details or photos of a child without the permission of their parent or guardian.
Sensitive topics
Our Editorial standards ask every author to follow these guidelines. They also apply to comments.
Health and mental health
- Write from your experience and knowledge, and say which is which. Do not diagnose readers, and do not promise a cure.
- Write about mental health in a supportive tone. Encourage readers to seek help from a doctor, a therapist or someone they trust when they need it.
- Do not present spiritual practice as a replacement for medical or psychological care.
Self-harm and suicide
- MoonX never publishes instructions for self-harm or suicide, or anything that encourages or glorifies them.
- You may write about these subjects with care: about recovery, about grief, about support. When our safety check finds signs of self-harm in an article, a person on our team always reads it before any decision.
- Do not describe methods. End the article with a line that points readers to help, such as: "If you are thinking about harming yourself, please reach out now. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. In the US, call or text 988. In the UK and Ireland, call Samaritans on 116 123. Elsewhere, find a helpline at findahelpline.com."
If you are struggling yourself: you are not alone. Please contact your local emergency number or one of the helplines above.
Medicine and alternative practices
- Energy healing, crystals, reiki, herbs and rituals are part of what MoonX publishes. Present them as traditions and experiences, not as proven treatments.
- Do not claim that a practice cures, prevents or treats a disease.
- If you write about herbs, oils or supplements, mention that they can have side effects and can interact with medicines, and that readers should check with a doctor, especially when pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication.
- MoonX does not publish articles about drugs, including psychedelics, even as therapy, as medicine or as a spiritual path.
Astrology, tarot and divination
- Present readings, horoscopes and predictions as guidance and reflection, not as facts or certain outcomes.
- Do not predict death, illness, accidents or disasters for a real person.
- Do not frighten readers with curses or bad omens, and do not offer paid spells or readings in an article or comment.
Grief and loss
- Write with care for readers who may be grieving now. Do not tell anyone how they should feel, or that a loss happened for a reason.
- If you write about contact with someone who has died, present it as your belief or experience, not as a certainty.
Pregnancy and fertility
- Do not present rituals, herbs or astrology as a way to conceive, to prevent or end a pregnancy, or to replace medical care during pregnancy.
- Do not present a prediction of a baby's sex or future as a fact.
- Some herbs and oils are unsafe in pregnancy. Say so whenever you mention them.
Money and investing
- Do not give investment, trading, tax or legal advice, and do not tell readers to buy or sell anything, such as shares or crypto, based on astrology or any other practice.
- Money rituals and manifestation are welcome as mindset and reflection. Do not promise readers wealth, and do not invite them into paid schemes.
Minors
- MoonX authors must be 18 or older.
- Nothing sexual involving a minor is ever allowed. We remove it at once, and we report it where the law requires.
- Do not give children or teenagers advice that replaces their parents, a doctor or other professional help.
What our team does
- Reporting a comment. In the MoonX app for iPhone, readers can report a comment as spam or advertising, as abusive or harassing, as off topic, or for another reason. When three different readers report the same comment, it is hidden at once, and our team then decides whether it stays hidden. You can also write to [email protected] about any comment or article.
- Hiding comments. Our team can hide any comment that breaks these rules. A hidden comment no longer appears to readers. Authors cannot hide comments on their own articles; if a comment on your article breaks these rules, write to [email protected].
- Reviewing articles. Every article is checked before it is published (see How your article is reviewed).
- Taking down a published article. Our team can take a published article down if it breaks these rules, the Author agreement or the law. We record the reason, and we tell the author.
- Putting an author account on hold. For a serious breach, or for breaches that keep happening, our team can put an author account on hold. The author can still sign in to the cabinet and see their earnings and payments, but can no longer write, submit or reply to readers. Their published articles stay up unless we also take them down. Their balance is kept, and payouts pause until the hold ends. We record the reason, and we tell the author.
- Accounts. Under our Terms of Use, we may also suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
