Navigate your lunar journey with MoonX’s new dual Zodiac update!
MoonX Now Offers Two Astrological Systems — What Does It Mean for You?
We are excited to announce that MoonX now offers the option to choose between two astrological systems — Tropical and Sidereal. This important update affects not only your natal chart but your entire app experience.
What Are the Tropical and Sidereal Zodiacs?
The Tropical Zodiac is a system based on the seasons and the position of the Sun relative to the Earth. It divides the year into 12 equal signs, starting at the spring equinox. This zodiac is used by most Western astrological traditions.
The Sidereal Zodiac, on the other hand, takes into account the actual positions of constellations in the night sky. It relies on fixed star groups rather than seasonal cycles. Due to the precession of the Earth's axis, the positions of signs in the Sidereal zodiac are slightly shifted compared to the Tropical.
How Does This Affect the App?
- Your natal chart can now be displayed in both systems, offering a deeper and more diverse understanding of yourself.
- Lunar signs and their related content adapt to the chosen system, ensuring accurate and relevant guidance.
- All key features, from the Lunascope to lunar Challenges, will consider your zodiac choice to maintain harmony and synchronization with real cosmic rhythms.
Please Note!
Horoscopes for each astrological system — Tropical and Sidereal — are written separately. Currently, MoonX offers horoscopes only for the Tropical system. However, in the Stars tab, you will find the Lunascope — lunar astrological transits, which are especially useful for those interested in the Sidereal approach and Eastern astrology (Jyotish). In this system, the Moon plays a more central role than the Sun, which is why the focus on lunar cycles helps to better understand planetary influences in your life.
Additionally, Eastern astrology (Jyotish) does not consider three modern planets — Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Therefore, these planets will not appear in your natal chart calculated using this system. Jyotish traditionally uses the whole sign house system, and we have included this in our app. If you would like to see the whole sign house system for Western astrology as well, please let us know — we are ready to consider this option.
How to Choose Your Astrological System?
In the profile settings (Profile > Settings > Astrology System), we have introduced not just a simple toggle between Tropical and Sidereal zodiacs but a true interactive tool. When you switch systems, you immediately see which signs the Sun and Moon currently occupy in each system — helping you visually grasp the difference and choose the one that resonates most with you.
For even greater accuracy, we have also added a modern astronomical system that includes the 13th constellation — Ophiuchus.
Ophiuchus is a constellation located between Scorpio and Sagittarius and is officially recognized by astronomy as part of the zodiac circle. While traditional astrological systems usually use 12 signs, astronomy shows that the Sun also passes through this constellation roughly between November 30 and December 18.
Ready to dive deeper into your cosmos? Choose the system that resonates with you, and let the Moon guide you toward harmony and understanding.
