The Elements of Eclipse Season

A Message About Balance

When I asked Spirit about the energy surrounding August 2026’s eclipse season, I pulled Justice for the August 12th Leo Solar Eclipse and the King of Pentacles reversed for the August 27th/28th Pisces Lunar Eclipse, and together they revealed a much bigger message about balance.

At first, I sat there thinking, Justice for a Leo eclipse? But the longer I looked at it, the more it made sense.

Justice is connected to Libra, an Air sign, while Leo is Fire. Fire needs air to survive. Starve a flame of oxygen and eventually it goes out. But add too much air, and that same flame can grow into something impossible to control.

That is where Justice comes in. Justice is not here to extinguish Leo’s fire. It is here to balance it.

Leo brings passion, confidence, creativity, leadership, pride and the desire to stand front and center. Those qualities can help us create incredible things, but without balance, passion can become impulsiveness, confidence can become arrogance, and a healthy flame can become a wildfire.

Justice asks us to pause and look honestly at where the scales have tipped. What needs fairness, what is unequal, or out of alignment, and what needs to change for balance to be restored? Are we using our fire to create, inspire and move forward, or are we allowing anger, ego and emotional reactions to fan the flames?

Justice is also card XI, the number 11, which is considered a Master Number in numerology. Eleven is often associated with awakening, intuition, illumination and becoming more conscious of the choices we make. The number 11 on the Justice card carries its own message of balance, representing two equal energies standing side by side.

That feels especially fitting for an eclipse, because eclipses can reveal what has been hidden and interrupt patterns that have become too comfortable.

Justice reminds us that once something has been revealed, we are responsible for what we choose to do with that truth.

The Pisces lunar eclipse, having the King of Pentacles reversed, now we have Earth and Water entering the conversation.

The King of Pentacles carries Earth energy. Upright, he represents stability, responsibility, security and the ability to build something lasting. Reversed, that energy can become rigid, controlling, overly focused on material security or afraid of anything that cannot be predicted.

Pisces is Water, water can soften hard, dry earth. It makes the ground workable again. It allows roots to spread and seeds to grow. But too much water can erode the earth entirely, washing away the foundation beneath it.

Again, the message that was loud and clear…Balance!

The Pisces eclipse may soften areas where we have become too hardened, too controlling or too attached to keeping everything exactly as it is. It can ask us to feel what we have avoided, surrender what can no longer be controlled and allow ourselves to become flexible again.

But surrender does not mean allowing emotion to wash away our common sense, boundaries or stability. Water is meant to nourish the earth, not destroy it.

That is when I realized that Spirit had given me all four elements through these two readings.

Justice brought Air.

Leo brought Fire.

The King of Pentacles brought Earth.

Pisces brought Water.

None of the elements are good or bad on their own. Their power depends on how they are used and whether they remain in balance. That is what Spirit is asking us to remember during this eclipse season.

These energies may show up differently for everyone. For one person, it may be a breakup. For someone else, it may be losing a job. Another may begin a new adventure. Or someone else maybe moving and starting something new. As well as many are ending a friendships or facing changes within their family dynamic. Whatever unfolds, the lesson remains the same.

Take a moment and breathe: Air

Allow yourself to feel what you’re feeling without letting those emotions flood every decision: Water

Stay grounded in your values, routines and the things you know to be true: Earth

Then use your passion to create positive changes instead of allowing it to become anger, destruction or impulse: Fire

We may not always control what changes around us, but we can become more conscious of how we respond!

Justice appearing first feels important. Before the emotions rise, before the ground begins to shift and before the fire starts spreading, Justice places the scales in front of us and asks one simple question:

Can you remain balanced while life is changing?

The King of Pentacles reversed reminds us that even a strong foundation can crack when it becomes too rigid, and sometimes we must allow the waters of change to soften us without washing away everything we have built. And so what you should ask yourself is:

Where am I holding on so tightly to control, comfort, or security that I may be preventing necessary growth?

Maybe that is the real message of this eclipse season. Not about fear, not about self-punishment. Or even about chaos for the sake of chaos.

Balance.

And nature already understands how these elements work together. Maybe Spirit is reminding us that we carry all four within ourselves, and learning how to work with them may be the difference between being transformed by change and being consumed by it.

Happy Eclipse Season!
