Endings, Return, and Coming Home

The Nine of Pentacles

At some point, things have to end. Not because they were bad, but because they’ve run their course. Endings are a natural part of life, and sometimes, those endings come with destruction. Not destruction to be celebrated or justified, but destruction that simply is. The kind that shakes things up so something new can emerge.

We saw this with Noah. God looked at the earth and said, “Enough.” Not out of cruelty, but out of necessity. The earth needed to be reset. And so it was. What looked like an ending was really a return, a clearing of the old so the new could breathe.

And that is the truth I want you to hold onto: there is no death. There is only return. We are eternal beings. We came here to experience, to expand, to explore, and when one chapter closes, we begin again. The fear of ending, the fear of loss, the fear of death, it loses its power the moment we understand this.

This is what the Nine of Pentacles is showing us. Look at that bird on the card, calm, at rest, having come home. Like the raven Noah sent out over the floodwaters, it has returned. The flood is over. The old is gone. And what remains is abundance, peace, and a new beginning built from within.

As we look at the world around us today, go inside your own ark. Do the inner work. Because on the other side of every ending is a return to love.

Some self-reflection questions:

  1. What am I holding on to that no longer has a place in my life?
  2. What meaning am I giving to things that eventually have to end?
  3. What is trying to be reborn in me right now?
  4. How can I create safety within myself as things shift around me?
