Today is the first of August, and today we celebrate and reflect on The Empress III.

The Empress is the embodiment of beauty, creation, fertility, and material abundance. She is the archetype of the Earth Mother, reminding us that everything we wish to experience in the physical world begins with something we first choose to nurture. She is associated with the number 3 in the Major Arcana, a number of growth, creativity, and manifestation. Astrologically, she is connected to Venus, the planet of love, beauty, values, pleasure, and harmony. Her zodiac associations are Taurus, representing stability and the abundance of the Earth, and Libra, representing balance, relationships, and aesthetic beauty.

In ancient Rome, abundance wasn't viewed as random luck. It was something cultivated through a harmonious relationship with the Earth. The Empress closely reflects the Roman goddess Ops, the goddess of abundance, fertility, harvests, and the wealth that comes from the land. Every year on August 25, the Romans honored Ops during the sacred festival of Opiconsivia, a celebration of stored grain, nourishment, and the blessings of a successful harvest.

The festival took place within the Regia in the Roman Forum, where the most sacred rites were performed by the Pontifex Maximus and the Vestal Virgins. Ops was honored not simply as a goddess of wealth, but as the fertile Earth itself, reminding people that true abundance comes from planting wisely, tending patiently, and harvesting at the right time.

That symbolism still speaks to us today!

The Empress teaches that abundance isn't only measured by money. It is reflected in your health, your relationships, your creativity, your home, your confidence, your peace of mind, and the life you consciously cultivate every single day. She reminds us that manifestation is not about wishing. It is about nurturing and the follow through that comes with creating your own happiness.

Before we ask the universe for what you deserve, perhaps The Empress asks us something else first:

What in your life needs nurturing right now?

Is it your body?

Your creativity?

Your relationships?

Your finances?

Your home?

Or perhaps it's simply you!

The Empress reminds us that growth rarely happens where there is neglect. By consistently nourishing yourself you begin to flourish.

Take a moment to reflect:

Are you pouring into yourself as much as you pour into everyone else?

Have you allowed yourself to experience beauty lately?

When was the last time you slowed down enough to enjoy a meal, admire nature, create something with your hands, or simply rest without guilt?

Are your daily choices aligned with the life you're trying to cultivate?

What seeds are you planting today that your future self will one day harvest?

Venus, the ruling planet of The Empress, isn't only about romance. She governs beauty, pleasure, self-worth, values, art, and the ability to receive. In many ways, Venus asks us a simple but profound question:

Do you believe you are worthy of abundance?

Because abundance isn't only measured by what fills your bank account. It is reflected in the quality of your relationships, the peace within your home, the health of your body, the joy in your creativity, and the love you extend to yourself.

Many of us have learned to pour endlessly into others while leaving our own cup empty. Yet The Empress teaches that nourishment begins at the source. Mothering yourself where needed. When you care about yourself, you don't become selfish. You become stable!
