๐ What you give also shapes your reality
Article ยท 3 min read ยท
Many people grew up believing the more they suffered, the more they deserved.
That love had to be hard-earned.
That exhaustion was proof of worth.
That giving until empty was noble.
And so they started living that way:
depleting themselves
forcing themselves
overgiving
hoping that eventually, life would finally give something back.
But there's an uncomfortable truth in all this:
the universe doesn't always respond to sacrifice.
It responds more to the energy from which you do things.
๐ Giving from love doesn't feel the same as giving from emptiness
Two people can do exactly the same thingโฆ
but from completely different inner places.
One helps because they want to share.
The other helps because they fear not being enough if they stop.
One loves from fullness.
The other loves hoping to be chosen in return.
On the outside it looks the same.
But the energy behind it completely changes the experience.
๐ Constant sacrifice can be a wound too
Many people learned that to receive love they had to:
- try harder
- solve everyone else's problems
- endure too much
- prove their usefulness
- not ask for much
And so they confused love with depletion.
From attachment theory, John Bowlby explained how our first affective experiences shape the way we seek validation and connection.
That's why some people don't know how to receive unless they sacrifice first.
๐ Your body knows when something comes from exhaustion
Sometimes you say "yes" when you want to say "no."
You give more than you have.
You adapt too much.
You constantly push yourself.
And even though you do it "for love" or "to manifest abundance"โฆ
your body experiences it as tension.
Researcher Brenรฉ Brown talks about how emotional exhaustion often stems from constantly trying to prove our worth.
Not everything you give comes from abundance.
Sometimes it comes from fear.
๐ The universe doesn't reward self-abandonment
This idea might feel uncomfortable, but it's important:
exhausting yourself doesn't guarantee receiving more.
There are people who give everything and still feel empty.
Because the problem wasn't how much they gave.
It was where they gave from.
Giving from fullness expands.
Giving from lack depletes.
And often life doesn't give back what you didโฆ
it gives back the emotional energy from which you lived.
๐ซ๏ธ Energy doesn't mean "high vibration"
This is where many spiritual ideas get misunderstood.
It's not about faking happiness all the time.
It's about energetic honesty.
About recognizing:
- when you're giving out of fear
- when you're trying to earn love
- when you're sacrificing yourself hoping for validation
- when you're already tired
Because you can't build real abundance from self-abandonment.
โ๐ป How to shift the energy you give from
1. Notice what you expect in return
Even if you never say it.
2. Learn to receive without guilt
Not everything has to be earned through suffering.
3. Rest without feeling useless
Your worth doesn't depend on how much you produce or endure.
4. Give from what overflows, not from what breaks you
Healthy generosity doesn't destroy you.
๐ฎ Final reflection
Maybe life never wanted you to prove how much you could suffer.
Maybe it wanted to show you something harder:
that you also deserve to receive without exhausting yourself first.
Because the universe doesn't always multiply sacrifice.
Often it multiplies the energy from which you choose to live.
And there's a huge difference between giving loveโฆ
and giving yourself away until you disappear.
Like the moonโฆ
that shines without destroying itself to do so. ๐โจ
