For a long time, I believed that silence was the absence of sound.

I see it differently now.

I've discovered that silence can also be found in a bird's song at dawn, in the wind moving through trees, in a stream following its course, or in waves meeting the sand.

These are sounds that don't demand attention.

But when we truly allow ourselves to hear them, something inside us begins to slow down.

That's how I came to understand the power of sound therapy.

Nature Has Always Known How to Calm Us

Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I seek out nature.

The birdsong reminds me that a new day always begins.

The wind rustling through leaves seems to carry away thoughts I no longer need to hold.

The sound of flowing water gives me a sense of cleansing, as if everything could return to its natural flow.

And the seaโ€ฆ

The sea always teaches me to breathe.

There's something deeply healing in simply closing my eyes and listening to the waves roll in and out, as if they were also settling the rhythms of my heart.

These sounds awaken in me a peace I rarely find anywhere else.

The Body Listens Too

We often think we hear only with our ears.

But our entire body responds to sound.

Some music moves us.

Others make us smile.

Some awaken our energy.

Others invite us to rest.

Science shows that certain sounds can influence our emotional state, reduce stress, and promote relaxation, because they stimulate natural responses in the brain and nervous system.

That's why, intuitively, so many people seek out the sound of rain to help them sleep or choose gentle music during meditation.

The Frequencies That Are Part of My Routine

Beyond nature sounds, I like to use sound frequencies at certain moments in my day.

I don't see them as miraculous solutions, but as tools that help me create an environment conducive to certain practices.

When I meditate, I choose calm sounds that support concentration and reduce distractions.

Before sleeping, I like to listen to relaxing frequencies that make the environment more peaceful and help my body slow down.

In moments of prayer, reflection, or writing, I also use instrumental music and soundscapes that help me stay present.

More than seeking a specific frequency, I try to notice how my body reacts to each sound.

I've learned that what truly matters is the sense of comfort it awakens.

The Power of Intention

For me, true sound therapy doesn't happen only in the audio that's playing.

It happens in the intention with which I choose to listen to it.

When I stop for a few minutes to breathe consciously while listening to the wind, gentle music, or the sound of rain, I'm telling my body it can rest.

I'm telling my mind that not everything needs to be resolved right now.

And I'm reminding my soul that it too deserves to be heard.

A Ritual I Do Whenever I Need to Rebalance

Whenever I feel my energy scattered, I choose a comfortable place.

I close my eyes.

I put on a nature sound or peaceful instrumental music.

I breathe deeply a few times.

As I listen, I imagine each breath in bringing serenity and each breath out carrying away accumulated weight.

A few minutes are usually enough for me to feel different.

More present.

Lighter.

More connected to myself.

Listening Is Also a Form of Meditation

We live surrounded by notifications, conversations, engines, horns, and countless stimuli.

Amid so much noise, we forget that listening can also be a spiritual practice.

When I choose to consciously listen to a bird's song, flowing water, wind in the trees, or music that calms my heart, I realize I'm not just hearing a sound.

I'm creating space for my mind to quiet and my essence to breathe again.

Sound therapy isn't only in the frequencies we play.

It's in how we allow ourselves to feel each vibration.

Because some melodies don't just touch our ears.

They reach places in the soul that words could never reach.

And whenever that happens, I remember that nature remains the oldest and most perfect of therapists.
