SEPTEMBER
THE RITUAL OF RETURNING TO YOURSELF
Article · 2 min read · ·

September arrives quietly. After summer's fire, after the long days and nights that seemed unwilling to end, it appears like a door left ajar, inviting us to step through slowly.
It's the month of new beginnings, but also of necessary farewells. Nature begins to change her dress and reminds us of something essential: letting go doesn't always mean losing; sometimes it means making room to receive.
This September, give yourself a moment of intimacy. You don't need grand ceremonies. Just a white candle, some dried leaves or a small branch, a crystal that speaks to you, and a journal.
As evening falls, find a quiet place. Light the candle and place before it whatever symbolizes the season that's ending for you. Breathe deeply and remember everything you've experienced these past months: the people who came, those who left, the decisions you made, the tears, the laughter, and those small moments that perhaps no one saw, but that changed you from within.
Then, write down three things you wish to leave behind.
Don't judge them. Don't resist them. Simply acknowledge that they've already served their purpose.
Fold the paper and say quietly:
"I give thanks for all I've lived, I release what weighs me down, and I open my heart to what is meant for me."
Now write three wishes for this new cycle. Don't think only about what you want to achieve. Also write how you want to feel: at peace, loved, free, inspired, brave, abundant…
Place this second paper next to the candle and gaze at its flame for a few minutes. Imagine that each breath opens a small window to the future.
Before extinguishing the candle, place one hand over your heart and the other over your abdomen.
September doesn't come to demand you be someone else.
It comes to remind you who you are when you stop carrying what no longer belongs to you.
And perhaps that's the true magic of this month: discovering that every ending is, secretly, an invitation to begin again.
