Principle of Generation

Among the seven Hermetic principles, the Principle of Generation (called the "Principle of Gender" in the classic Kybalion) is often the least understood.

It's reduced to biological reproduction, when in reality it encompasses much more: it is the universal law of creative power.

The entire universe is an act of constant generation. Every star is born and dies in cosmic cycles.

Every idea is conceived in the mind before taking form in matter.

Every human relationship begins with an invisible spark that later becomes a bond.

To forget this principle is to forget that we are not merely spectators of life: we are active co-creators in every moment. Generation beyond biology

The Principle of Generation teaches that creation is not limited to the body. It expresses itself on three planes:

Physical → reproduction, fertility, continuity of life.

Mental → conception of ideas, incubation of projects, creativity.

Spiritual → inspiration, union with the divine, giving birth to works that transcend.

Thus, this principle is not restricted to the birth of children, but to the birth of everything new in the universe.

MASCULINE FEMININE BALANCE

The Kybalion states:

"Gender is in everything; everything has its masculine and feminine principles; gender manifests on all planes."

For centuries, this statement has been misinterpreted, reduced to biology or social roles.

But the Principle of Generation—or Gender, in its original formulation—speaks of something deeper: the existence of two universal forces, complementary and necessary for all creation.

The common mistake is to see them as opposites at war.

Hermetic wisdom invites us to recognize them as allies in a dance.

Only in balance does life emerge.

The masculine principle and the feminine principle

Masculine → active energy, impulse, emission, direction.

It represents the spark, the seed, the initiating action.

Feminine → receptive energy, gestation, nourishment, manifestation.

It represents the welcoming space, the symbolic womb where the seed matures and becomes life.

It's not about men and women, but about polarities present in everything: in galaxies, in the mind, in emotions, and in creative processes.
