The Call of the Forest...

"Ayahuasca is not a drink. It is a mirror, a portal, and a teacher who speaks to the soul in silence."

Not every call is heard with the ears.

Mine came through a persistent feeling that something needed healing. Something ancient, deep, rooted not only in me, but in everything that brought me here.

That's how ayahuasca found me. Not as a fad, not as a curiosity. But as medicine!

I'll share with you a little about this ancient forest medicine and how it touched me in a transformative way. A personal insight into rituals, visions, and silences that changed my soul.

What is Ayahuasca?

Ayahuasca is a sacred drink as old as the indigenous peoples, prepared from two Amazonian plants: the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and the leaves of Psychotria viridis. Together, they form what we call Uni, Nixi Pãe, Yagé, or Daime. A sacrament, not a substance.

Far beyond an entheogen, ayahuasca is considered a mother spirit. It not only reveals, it educates, cleanses, heals, confronts, and welcomes.

Its effects manifest on three levels:

Body: purification, release of toxins and tension. Vomiting, crying, laughter, diarrhea accompany this. Whatever your body feels it needs to release for purification to occur.

Emotion: contact with memories, traumas, and ancestry. A mixture of joy, sadness, anger, acceptance, love, and anguish may emerge. All the emotions that have been repressed and that medicine needs to work to heal.

Spirit: visions, teachings, reconnection with the self. Visions can be with guides or with a more evolved version of yourself. In my first experience, I was led throughout the process by an evolved version of myself, a mature and spiritualized version that guided me through memories I had repressed since childhood, emotions I didn't know how or didn't want to process. The medicine will present itself to you in a way that will make sense and be well received.

In another experience, I was guided by a Goddess, of pure light. She emanated strength and knowledge, and guided me through decisions I was putting off, memories I insisted on sweeping under the rug, and so much more.

𓆙 My First Crossing

No two rituals are alike. But the first time... it's like being born again.

I remember the silence that preceded the ceremony. The diet. The preparation. And the moment when, upon taking the medicine, something inside me knew: "There is no turning back."

The first few hours were peaceful; we were chanting. My first contact with medicine was at the Temple of Light – Chá do Santo Daime. I don't know exactly when I was drawn into the process with medicine, I only remember looking outside and seeing that night had already fallen, and the ceremony had begun with the sun still shining in the clear blue sky.

Then darkness came—but not as absence, but as a spiritual womb.

I realized I was in the process when I found myself inside my own head, being guided by a more enlightened version of myself, a version that spoke calmly, wisely, and welcomingly. This new Thayná showed me a corridor with several doors, and each door represented a memory, a situation, a moment that I hadn't dealt with when I should have. I simply pushed it to the back of my mind and thought, "One day I'll deal with this." Well, that day has come!

And she opened door by door, memory by memory, and I dealt with it. I dealt with my paternal, maternal, and family traumas, crying like a child who had taken their first fall. In that first experience, I didn't vomit, I didn't go to the bathroom, I just cried, cried, cried, until the crying gave way to the purest and most sincere smile, to the relief in my chest and the feeling of being loved and welcomed by myself, of having my emotions finally validated and processed by me.

It was magnificent!

I saw symbols, memories, parts of myself that I had hidden. I saw myself as a child. I saw the fear, the shame, and also the courage I had forgotten. And finally… I felt a presence. The presence of something ancient, wise, and maternal, but not maternal as if my mother were there with me, maternal in the sense that Mother Earth embraced me and saw me, and finally whispered, "You are not the pain. You are the strength that carries you through."

And what she said… was what I already knew, but hadn't yet accepted.

And I vividly remember the moment the veil of illusion left my eyes, when I activated my third eye, my Ajna.

Ganesha appeared to me, and at the time I knew nothing about his history, what he did, or what points he helped. However, he spoke to me and showed me things about spirituality that I would never have dared to imagine. After many revelations, I was instructed how I should remove the veil, to finally see the world as it truly is.

My hands moved, consciously but not by my own command, and moved toward my forehead, specifically between my eyebrows, at the exact point where Ajna is located. I felt the veil being pulled away by my fingertips, and then my vision was filled with a bright light, and then my vision cleared, and I "woke up."

Ayahuasca and Spirituality

The experience with medicine is not a hallucination. It is inner vision. It's as if the veil between worlds thins, and you access a reality that has always been there.

For those who walk in spirituality, whether as a witch, healer, seeker, or simply someone who feels the call of the soul, ayahuasca activates archetypes, awakens gifts, and brings messages from guides and ancestors.

In me, it lit my third eye. It brought back memories of other lives. It made me see the path of the woman who works with the Earth, with herbs, with intuition, and with mission.

🌞 What remains afterward?

True medicine isn't in the ceremony. It's in the next day.

It's when you return home, look at your life, and feel that everything has changed. Even if on the outside it seems the same. Deep down, you feel that things will never be the same again, because once you awaken, your eyes will never again be covered by the blinding veil.

Integration is the most important thing: transforming what you saw into action. Change, forgive, move on, be silent. There's no point in learning, seeing, processing, and then pretending nothing happened and trying to return to old habits and ways of acting. Awakening is a blessing, a gift that few ever experience, and the duty of those who reach this level of knowledge is to make the world we live in a little better with the knowledge acquired.

Ayahuasca is a school, and like any school... what matters is what you do with what you learn.

Ayahuasca is not recreation.

It is a sacred medicine used for centuries by Indigenous peoples in ritual contexts.

Its use must be done with preparation, respect, responsibility, and serious supervision.

There are risks when used without guidance, without a diet, or without a true intention of healing.

Ayahuasca showed me what was behind my mirrors. It taught me to die within myself, to then be reborn with more truth, more presence, more soul.

If you feel the call… listen. But go with a clean heart. Go with reverence. Go to find what you don't even know you're looking for.

“Ayahuasca is not for those who want to see the invisible. It is for those who have the courage to see themselves.”

Thank you so much for this. I feel a deep calling to this medicine. This article is my third sign that it is right for me now. But where do I start to find the right place to take this ritual? Could you recommend somewhere from your experience?

Oii Elaine.

Wow, I'm deeply moved by your account of Ayahuasca's transformative power. Your writing has a way of transporting me to the heart of the Amazonian forest, where the ancient wisdom of the plants and the universe converge. I was particularly struck by your description of the 'veil of illusion' being lifted from your eyes, allowing you to see the world with new clarity. Can you tell us more about how this experience has influenced your daily life, relationships, or spiritual practices? How do you continue to integrate the insights and wisdom you've gained from Ayahuasca into your journey? Also, I'm curious about the role of the guides and spiritual entities you encountered during your experiences. How do you understand their presence and guidance in your journey, and what do you think is the significance of these encounters in the context of Ayahuasca's effects?"

Me guiando e orientando, e acima de tudo me acolhendo.

Can you do this ceremony if on medications, i feel this would be good for me, i'm a white witch, but want to discover more about myself, light and love.
Sant 🌞
Sant 🌞 @Janetta Clarke.Jul 25

I love that I can read this en español y no solo entender en mi primera lengua natal pero internalize the meaning mas também sinto as palavras na língua portuguesa. Oh where can I find some of this? I am ready.

Sant 🌞 @SamanthaJul 27
Oii Sam I'm also having trouble translating; I need to ask Google Translate for help. If you feel the call, it's the first sign that medicine wants to find you. Before my first experience, I spent months researching, informing myself through personal studies, and I had the opportunity to talk to some people who had already gone through the process. My first time was at the same place my friend mentioned, but I didn't identify with the place due to the way the ceremony was performed. I like to feel connected to nature and express myself through dance, crying, and reflection. So, I looked for another place to carry out the rest of my experiences with medicine. I searched for ayahuasca centers in my area, contacted the center administrators, and asked all the questions I considered relevant. Finally, I went to one where I felt it was a serious, respectful place, and above all, one that respected medicine as the people who initiated the practice. I recommend that you do your research thoroughly beforehand, ask questions, and clarify all your doubts for a purposeful first experience. If it helps, I spent the week meditating on what I expected from medicine, what had awakened this calling in me, and I was confident and ready to receive the teachings. I hope this helped. 🌞 Light on your path. Sincerely, Sant ☼
