Full Moon Eclipse: a night to close chapters, listen to the soul, and embrace a new beginning

Illustration for AUGUST 28: THE MOON THAT INVITES US TO LET GO

There are nights when the sky seems to speak to us a little louder. On August 28, 2026, the Full Moon will pass through the Earth's shadow, and we'll be able to witness a partial lunar eclipse, visible from much of Europe, Africa, the Americas, and western Asia.

Astronomically, a lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align in such a way that the Moon enters the Earth's shadow. In this case, not all of the lunar surface will be covered: it will be a partial eclipse.

But beyond astronomy, there's another way—symbolic and spiritual—to contemplate this phenomenon.

The Full Moon traditionally represents culmination, revelation, and harvest. The eclipse, by temporarily darkening a part of that light, can become a beautiful metaphor for what we need to see from a different perspective.

This isn't about fearing the eclipse's energy or thinking the sky will decide our destiny. It's about using this date as a conscious pause: to stop, observe, and ask ourselves what we want to keep carrying with us and what we're ready to leave behind.

A MOMENT TO CLOSE

There are chapters that end long before we have the courage to acknowledge it.

A relationship, a worry, a way of thinking, a guilt, a promise we made years ago, or even a version of ourselves that no longer exists.

The Full Moon can become a symbol of culmination. And the eclipse, in that moment when the light shifts, can remind us that even what seems to disappear for a few minutes continues to be part of the cycle.

Not every ending is a loss. Some endings are liberations.

RELEASE RITUAL FOR AUGUST 28

When night falls, find a quiet place. You can light a white candle and place a glass of water nearby.

On a piece of paper write:

"This is what I no longer wish to carry."

Then write everything you want to release. Without censoring. Without worrying about the form.

When you finish, breathe deeply and read your words one last time. Then tear the paper into small pieces and discard it.

Look at the Moon and say:

"I honor all I've lived. I'm grateful for what I've learned. I release what has ended and open space for what is about to begin."

The ritual isn't meant to magically change reality. Its value lies in turning an inner intention into a conscious gesture.

FIVE TIPS FOR THIS NIGHT

1. Don't make impulsive decisions.

Use the eclipse to observe, not to react. If something stirs you emotionally, give yourself time.

2. Cleanse your space.

Tidy a room, open the windows, and let fresh air in. Sometimes cleaning our environment helps symbolize an inner cleansing.

3. Write down what you want to close.

Ask yourself: What situation am I prolonging even though I know it's already over?

4. Give yourself silence.

Turn off your phone, television, and distractions for a few minutes. Look at the sky and breathe. Contemplation can also be a ritual.

5. Write an intention for the new cycle.

After releasing, ask: What do I want to nurture now? It could be peace, self-love, creativity, confidence, abundance, or simply serenity.

AFTER THE SHADOW, THE LIGHT RETURNS

Perhaps that's the most beautiful message of an eclipse.

The Moon doesn't disappear.

It simply passes through a shadow.

And we pass through ours, too.

There are moments when it seems we've lost our clarity, our strength, or even who we are. But darkness doesn't necessarily mean the light has stopped existing.

Sometimes we're just going through a stage of transformation.

This August 28, look at the sky without fear. Watch as the shadow touches the Moon and remember that everything in the universe moves in cycles.

Close. Release. Be grateful. Breathe. Begin again.

Because perhaps the magic of this Moon isn't in asking the sky for something, but in finally daring to say:

"I understand now. I've let it go. Now I'm moving forward."
