The new moon isn't for manifesting

The new moon isn't for manifesting

It's not for creating, it's for confronting what you can no longer ignore.

There's a silent pressure no one talks about when the new moon arrives:

the idea that you should have clarity.

About what you want.

Where you're going.

What you're going to 'manifest'.

But if you're honest with yourself... most of the time, you don't know.

And not because you're lost, but because you're in a moment where everything that came before stopped making sense, but what's new hasn't taken shape yet.

(Psychological transition processes – William Bridges, 'neutral zone' theory)

The new moon doesn't illuminate anything.

It doesn't give you answers.

It doesn't push you outward.

It's dark, quiet... uncomfortable.

And that's exactly why it's not a phase for projecting,

it's a phase for being with yourself without distractions.

(Symbolism of darkness as a space for introspection – Carl Jung)

We were taught this moment is for writing down wishes, making lists, declaring the future.

But we rarely talk about what happens before that:

the emptiness.

the confusion.

the discomfort of not having clarity.

And avoiding that emptiness is, often, avoiding the real process.

(Importance of creative emptiness – Rollo May, relationship between anxiety and creation)

Because before knowing what you want...

you have to be able to admit what you no longer want.

And that's not always easy.

It means letting go of versions of yourself that still gave you identity.

Accepting that something no longer represents you, even though it once did.

And recognizing that not everything you held onto was truly yours.

(Identity construction and change – Erik Erikson)

The new moon doesn't come to give you certainties.

It comes to remove the noise.

To turn down the volume of the external so you can start hearing the internal, even if what you find isn't comfortable, clear, or beautiful yet.

(Mindfulness and self-observation practices – Jon Kabat-Zinn)

And in that silence...

something more honest begins.

Not a perfect list of wishes.

Not an ideal version of your life.

But a more real connection with yourself.

Without pressure. Without performance. Without needing to have it all figured out already.

(Authenticity and self-awareness – Brené Brown)

Maybe you don't need to write down today what you want to manifest.

Maybe you need to sit with yourself and accept:

that you're changing,

that you don't have all the answers,

and that this is also part of the process.

Because not all phases come to give you clarity...

some come to prepare you for when it arrives. 🌑✨
