The New Moon doesn't want wishes—it wants decisions
Manifesting is also acting: turn your intention into a concrete decision this New Moon.
Article · 6 min read · ·
Every New Moon, we do something similar.
We write intentions.
We light a candle.
We close our eyes.
We visualize a different life.
We ask for love.
Money.
Peace.
A new job.
An opportunity.
A different version of ourselves.
And there's nothing wrong with that. ✨
Sometimes we need to imagine something before we can build it.
But this New Moon brings with it a far less comfortable question:
What are you willing to do for what you're asking for?
Because you can write the wish a hundred times.
But there will come a moment when you'll have to get up from the table where you wrote it...
and make a decision.
🌑 A Different New Moon
The September New Moon occurs between September 10 and 11, 2026, depending on your time zone. In El Salvador it happens on the night of the 10th; in UTC it will already be the early morning of the 11th. Astrologically, it occurs in Virgo.
And Virgo has something interesting.
It's not exactly the energy of:
Within astrological language, Virgo is associated with details, systems, routines, daily work, and what can be improved step by step. Cafe Astrology, for example, interprets this New Moon as an appropriate time to organize daily life, start projects that need attention to detail, and establish concrete routines.
That's why perhaps the most powerful ritual of this New Moon isn't writing ten wishes.
Maybe it's choosing one...
and asking yourself:
What can I do with this tomorrow?
✨ Manifesting Also Means Participating
Suppose you write:
Beautiful.
Now add below it:
And then:
Maybe it's reviewing how much you spend.
Learning a skill.
Sending a proposal.
Collecting an outstanding invoice.
Applying for a job.
Starting what you've been saying you'll start for six months.
Suddenly, manifestation stops being just a wish.
It becomes direction.
Maybe you wrote:
Then the next question could be:
Because maybe you don't need another affirmation.
Maybe you need to stop going back to someone who only shows up when they feel lonely.
Maybe you need to set a boundary.
Accept an invitation.
Meet different people.
Or stop interpreting a lack of reciprocity as a complicated spiritual connection.
Sometimes the new beginning doesn't come because we ask for something new.
It comes because we finally stop choosing the old.
Maybe you wrote:
And then you'd have to ask yourself:
What situation are you maintaining that takes it away from you?
What conversation have you been avoiding for weeks?
What obligation did you accept when you wanted to say no?
What part of your routine keeps your body permanently exhausted?
Not everything is fixed by making an immediate decision.
But many transformations begin when we stop saying:
"Someday I'll change this."
and start asking:
"What's the next possible move?"
🕯️ There Are Wishes That Are Really Decisions in Disguise
This is perhaps the uncomfortable part.
Sometimes we know perfectly well what we should do.
We just don't want to do it yet.
We know we should end something.
We know we need to begin.
We know we should ask for help.
We know we've been accepting less for too long.
We know we need to review our finances.
We know that person isn't offering what we keep imagining.
We know we want to change jobs.
But saying:
can feel much more comfortable than saying:
And maybe there's nothing wrong with being afraid.
Courage never required the absence of fear.
It only requires that fear not make all the decisions for us.
🌱 An Intention Without Action Is Still Just an Intention
There's a simple way to know if a manifestation is starting to transform your life.
Ask yourself:
Am I doing anything different?
It doesn't have to be huge.
In fact, it's probably better if it isn't.
Five dollars saved.
An email sent.
A call made.
An application.
A conversation.
Twenty minutes studying.
A page written.
An account canceled.
A boundary expressed.
A first "no."
A first "yes."
Because a life rarely changes through one giant decision.
It usually changes through small decisions repeated over enough time.
And that fits especially well with the symbolism of this New Moon in Virgo: less spectacle, more structure.
🌑 This New Moon's Exercise
This time I want to propose something different.
You don't need ten intentions.
You need three.
Take a sheet of paper and divide it like this:
🌙 1. What I want
Write something you really want.
Not what you think you should want.
What you want.
🌿 2. What depends on me
Now momentarily remove the Universe from the equation.
Don't ask what sign you need to receive.
Ask yourself:
What part of this wish does depend on me?
🔥 3. My next decision
Don't write:
It's too big.
Write something you can do.
Tomorrow.
Example:
Another:
Another:
That can also be a ritual.
Just one that keeps working when the candle goes out.
💫 You Don't Have to Stop Believing
This article doesn't intend to tell you to stop manifesting.
Or to stop writing your intentions.
Or to put away your crystals.
Or to blow out the candles.
Do it if it means something to you.
Spirituality can help us pause.
Observe.
Imagine.
Listen.
But perhaps its job isn't to live our life for us.
You can ask the Universe for direction...
and still look at the map.
You can ask for abundance...
and still make a budget.
You can ask for opportunities...
and still knock on doors.
You can ask for love...
and still learn to leave where there's no reciprocity.
You can ask for a different life...
but sooner or later you'll have to start making different decisions.
🌙 Maybe This New Moon Doesn't Need Another Wish from You
Maybe it already knows what you want.
Maybe you know it too.
That's why, this time, after writing your intention, don't end by just saying:
Add something more.
Ask:
Because maybe the most powerful manifestation doesn't happen when the Universe finally delivers what you asked for.
Maybe it happens the moment you understand that you are also part of the answer.
🌑✨
Before you go, I want to leave you with a question
What decision have you been waiting to turn into a "sign"?
You don't need to tell your whole story.
You can simply write:
"My decision is ______."
Maybe putting it into words is the first move.
