🌑 New Moon Cacao Ritual | 18 March 🌸
Article · 4 min read ·
A Gentle Reset Before the Spring Equinox 🌙

The New Moon is the quietest moment of the lunar cycle. 🤍🌙
A pause.
A reset.
A blank sky where new intentions begin to breathe.
This New Moon on March 18 arrives just days before the Spring Equinox, the moment when light and darkness balance and a new season awakens.
Astrologically, this New Moon carries watery and intuitive energy, inviting reflection, emotional renewal, and softness.
Water teaches us to release.
The New Moon invites us to begin again.
This is the perfect moment to clear emotional residue from the past months and plant intentions for the new season ahead.
Tonight’s moon highlights:
- Emotional renewal
- Intuition and inner listening
- Releasing old emotional weight
- Preparing for the new season of growth
Before the energy of spring begins to move forward, the Moon asks for one thing first:
gentle closure.
🤍✨🌙
🌿 Main Ritual
Home Cacao New Moon Ceremony 🍫
Cacao has been used in Mesoamerican traditions as a heart-opening ceremonial plant. As Mexican I invite you to start this New Moon with presence, gratitude, and emotional clarity.
Tonight, we use cacao to soften the heart and welcome the new lunar cycle.
You will need
- A warm cup of ceremonial cacao or pure dark cacao drink
- A small candle
- A bowl of water
- A small piece of paper & pen (for journaling)
• Cinnamon (optional)
Prepare your cacao 🍫
- Warm 1 cup of water or plant-based milk until hot but not boiling.
- Add 1 tablespoon cacao powder to your favorite cup.
- Pour the warm liquid slowly while stirring.
- Add a small pinch of cinnamon if you like.
- Take a moment to hold the cup with both hands before beginning the ritual.
Ritual steps
Light the candle.
Hold your warm cacao cup with both hands (choose your favorite cup, it gives it more intention & love)
Feel the warmth in your palms.
Take a slow inhale through your nose.
Exhale gently through the mouth.
Write on the paper:
One emotional pattern you are ready to release before the new season begins. ✨🌑✨
Fold the paper once.
Place it beneath the bowl of water.
Take a sip of cacao and whisper softly:
🤍 I soften what was heavy.
✨ I release what no longer belongs to my next chapter.
🌙 Imagine the New Moon absorbing the old energy.
Let the candle burn for a few minutes while you breathe quietly.
When you finish the cacao, discard the paper later with gratitude.
Meaning
This ritual honors the water element of emotional renewal.
Cacao opens the heart.
Water absorbs and releases.
The New Moon holds the intention for the cycle ahead.

🌙 Lunar Meditation
Breathing Into the New Cycle
Sit comfortably.
Close your eyes.
Place one hand on your heart.
Inhale slowly through your nose.
Exhale softly through your mouth.
Imagine the dark sky of the New Moon above you.
A calm, empty space.
Repeat silently:
I release what belongs to the past season.
I welcome new energy with an open heart.
My life moves in rhythm with the cycles of nature.
Stay here for a few breaths.
Feel the quiet beginning of a new cycle.
✨ Journaling Prompts
New Moon Reflection
Write slowly and honestly.
- What emotional weight am I ready to release before spring begins?
- What new energy do I want to invite into my life this season?
- Where in my life do I need a softer beginning?
- What intention feels aligned with the next lunar cycle?
The New Moon reminds us that not all beginnings require force.
Some begin quietly. 🤍
Like a seed. 🤍
Like a breath. 🤍
Like a cup of warm cacao held between your hands. 🤍✨🌙
