🍁 Mabon: The Whisper of the Equinox

The tingling that reaches the nose from cinnamon combined with the sweetness of red apples.

Combined with the sharp scent of the harvest. The humidity of the mushroom house.

The gentle yet firm caress of leaves stirred by the wind, a decisive awakening. The sunset painted on every single leaf.

Do you feel it?

The approach of the dark hours, a slow call to your shadow side. Reflection and new plans. But with the crackling of bonfires illuminating them, with dances to enliven them and the laughter of loved ones as background.

Do you feel it?

The autumn equinox knocking at the door, punctual, decisive, inviting. And with it the festival of Mabon, which has its roots in neopaganism and Wicca, with the god Mabon, protector of youth, harvest, and forests. One of the legends about him closely resembles the myth of Persephone who, in Greek mythology, prepares her bags around this time and moves for a third of her cycle to the abode of Hades. According to Celtic tradition, the eternal youth of the god Mabon was due to the period he spent in Annwn, the Otherworld of Welsh mythology, after being kidnapped just three days after his birth. His mother, Modron, the most important goddess of the Welsh pantheon, patroness of fertility, went searching for him, and consequently, nature began to wither, thus beginning the seasons.

• Decorate your home: open the door and windows to let the autumn outside come inside you and your home. Add garlands of leaves, pine cones, and acorns. The beautiful thing about these celebrations is that everything made by us absorbs our intentions, thus creating centerpieces with colors and correspondences for Mabon;
• Celebrate abundance and harvest: fill your home with the people you love and prepare a dinner for them based on seasonal products.
• Rest for plants: they also need to rest and hibernate, move them from outside to inside and prepare for winter;
• If you don't own any plants, you can start showing gratitude towards Mother Earth by planting a new tree.

Regarding the last point, you could plant a bulb, the one you feel most in tune with, and which obviously should be sown during this period. Next to it, place a glass jar with a sheet where you entrust it with your future aspirations and will.

• Relax: it's the perfect time to start meditating and relaxing, let time flow in you and through you, find the right rhythm of things;
• If you have the chance, go greet nature, look out over the edges of parks and woods and wish it a sweet rest.
• Book: update your visual journal, shadow book, visual board with everything you need to let go of and what you would like to come. For example, I haven't started my shadow book long ago, and for this reason, I promised myself to dedicate every Sabbat and Esbat to updating a page dedicated to them.
