Journaling—conscious writing or simply keeping a diary—means regularly writing down what you think, feel, do, or want. It's a powerful tool for self-regulation and self-awareness, sometimes even more effective than casual diary-keeping.

🧘🏽‍♀️ The mental benefits are:

Organizing your thoughts—getting things out of your head and onto paper helps transform vague, complicated, or stuck thoughts into something more concrete

🧠 Reduces mental overwhelm, especially if you're like me with a million things constantly spinning around in your head (😅)
🏹 Helps you spot patterns—for example, you realize certain thoughts pop up when you haven't slept enough, you're stressed, or you've gone several days without unplugging
💭 Encourages reflection before reacting impulsively—fire signs, you'll get this

Daily Journaling Based on Your Emotions 🌞

While writing can help you identify what you're really feeling—anger, disappointment, exhaustion, sadness, or deep rage—writing about your emotions or problems won't solve them instantly, but it will help them flow more naturally and let you see them in a different light.

During stressful times, one of the most helpful approaches is doing a mental dump before bed, for example:

• This is what's worrying me, this is what I can do tomorrow, this is what's within my control, and this is what's not.

That way you're not trying to keep all that information actively running in your head.

It can also help you know yourself better 🔍—over time you can discover which situations give you energy and which drain you, what you really need, what things you do out of obligation in your daily life, what boundaries are hard for you to set, which thoughts repeat themselves and whether they repeat at certain times of the month or cycle, what makes you feel good, and what you overlook.

But it's not all about processing negative stuff—it also works for preserving good moments, not just for writing when you're struggling.

What can we use it for?

5-Minute Journaling

  • How do I feel today?
  • What do I need?
  • What would I like to happen today, what would I like to manifest or attract?

And you can even do nighttime journaling with some tickets, photos, tags, or materials that made your day special, sticking them on the pages and writing next to them—for example, 3 good things that happened to me today, something I learned, or something I want to write down before going to sleep.

Lunar Phase Journaling 🌓

For example, new moons 🌑 are incredible for setting intentions—it's time to begin as the cycle begins. You can write what you want to start in this new lunar cycle or the ones to come, what you want to attract, what you need to cultivate during this cycle, what intention you can bring into the coming weeks, or what to leave behind.

You can even choose a word or short mantra to accompany you through this cycle.

Waxing Moon 🌘 here we shift from "what do I want" to "what am I doing to get closer to it"—for example, reflecting on the steps we've been able to take, what's working and what's not working, what steps are challenging for me, or where I can be more consistent.

Full Moon 🌕 this is perhaps the most beautiful part—instead of focusing on what's missing, we look at what already exists, what has bloomed in our life, what we've achieved, what has made us happy, or maybe the complete opposite... but above all, what we want to be grateful for and what emotions are with us during this Full Moon.

Waning Moon 🌒 here we focus on releasing and resting. We ask ourselves what's weighing on us, what worry we want to leave behind, what habits aren't serving us, what we need to forgive ourselves for, where we're spending energy unnecessarily... and most importantly, knowing and being aware that we don't need to resolve everything right now.

You can give each cycle its own page or pages and see if patterns repeat month to month. You can also decorate the pages according to the moon or cycle we're in (Harvest Moon, Worm Moon, Cold Moon...).

I recommend choosing a special notebook that's only used for that journaling, tracking your emotions through the different lunar phases, but choosing another notebook to jot down all the stuff that floods in during daily life.

If you do journaling, tell me in the comments and let me know how you do it or what purpose it serves for you 🕯️🖋️
