BLUE FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS - The Reorientation

This is a month that begins in revelation and ends in revelation, with a new beginning seeded in the middle, between two tides of light, and a second arrow!

We are now at that second tide.

The Blue Full Moon rises on May 31 at 9 degrees and 56 minutes of Sagittarius, at 4:45 in the morning Eastern time, which is to say in that particular stillness that belongs neither to night nor day, when the sky does what it always does at thresholds and becomes briefly translucent. This is the second Full Moon in a calendar month, which makes it, by the modern definition, a Blue Moon. Rare, though not impossibly rare and worth attending to, because the sky does not repeat a pattern just to be interesting. Patterns are instructions.

And this particular pattern is completing something. May is the last month this year in which the Full Moon arrives first, before the New Moon, before the dark. From June onward, the cycle re-orients. The New Moon returns to its traditional place at the opening of each month, the seed before the flower, the dark before the light. This is always the Sagittarian question. Not what happened, but what does it mean. Not the event, but the philosophy the event is pointing toward.

The Living Constellation

She stands in the deep body of the Scorpion, in territory that the ancient world associated with the transformative passage, with what survives the descent. Gate 9 is the Gate of Focus, seated in the Sacral Centre, carrying the energy of sustained, detail-oriented attention. It is the gate that understands how vast visions are actually built: through the accumulation of small, precise, repeated acts. Not through the grand gesture, but through the hundredth return to the same difficult thing.

Line 5 within Gate 9 carries a significant charge. It sits within the projection field, which means that what this line holds becomes visible to others in ways the holder may not fully anticipate. Line 5 is the line of the practical solution, the one who is looked to for the answer that actually works. The gift of 9.5 is clarity about what is truly essential, the ability to cut through the noise and name the one detail that matters most. The shadow is that this line can scatter under the weight of what others expect it to know, trying to satisfy an imagined projection rather than trusting its own precise sight.

At a Blue Full Moon that opposes Uranus and speaks in the frequency of expansion and revelation, Gate 9.5 asks something very specific: what is the one thing, the single point of focus, that this entire month of intensity has been clarifying? Not the whole horizon. The arrow. Where does it point?

That is what this Full Moon is revealing. Not everything at once. The one essential thing. Trust that your sight is accurate. The projection field around you is waiting for what you already know.

Southern and Northern Hemispheres

In the Southern Hemisphere, this Full Moon rises into mid-autumn, approaching winter. The Sagittarian fire of this lunation arrives as warmth in the body of the cooling year, a reminder that inner direction does not require outer light. What is your winter vision? Not what you are doing during winter, but what you are moving toward underneath it, in the long slow metabolising of everything the year has brought so far. The Blue Moon quality here carries a particular weight: this is not the usual rhythm. Something is being shown that would not have been visible in an ordinary month. Pay attention to what illuminates.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Full Moon rises into the fullness of late spring, the world at maximum green and growing.
