Body Basics and Simple Nourishment Practices for the New Season

ars lives in the body first.

Before it is a planet of ambition or strategy or spiritual fire, Mars is the planet of the physical: of muscle and blood and the raw animal drive to move, to act, to take up space in the world. In Greek mythology, Ares was not a god of the mind. He was a god of the battlefield, which is to say he was a god of the body under pressure: what it can endure, what it can do, how it responds when everything is at stake.

Aries season carries this quality. The fire that arrives in late March is not abstract. It wants to move through a physical vessel, and the quality of that vessel determines how cleanly the fire burns. A body that is depleted, under-rested, and running on neglect will experience Aries season as irritability and scattered energy. A body that is tended, moved, and fed with attention will experience it as the genuine momentum this season offers.

These are not glamorous practices. Mars is not glamorous. Mars is practical and direct and interested in what actually works. These practices work.

Movement: Mars in the Muscles

Add one walk per day.

Try one new physical thing this season.

Move before the day loads.

Rest: The Fire That Banked Overnight Burns Longer

Protect one full rest day per week.

Audit your sleep honestly.

Take rest when the body asks for it.

Nourishment: Feeding the Fire

Drink more water than you think you need.

Bring one seasonal food into rotation.

Cook one meal this week with full attention.

Notice what the body is actually asking for.

Mars does not separate the spiritual from the physical. The fire of Aries season burns through the body as directly as it burns through the psyche, and a body that is moved, rested, and fed with attention is a body that can carry the season's full force without burning out by April. Tend the vessel. The fire will do the rest.
