Spring Equinox Rituals for Rebirth

Easing Into Growth
They will tell you spring is a gift.
They’ll say it with flower emojis and vision board aesthetics and the particular brightness of someone who has never had to claw their way out of winter rather than simply wait for it to end. They’ll say: new beginnings. They’ll say: fresh start. They’ll say it the way people say everything happens for a reason at funerals, which is to say, without looking you in the eye.
Here is what they don’t say: rebirth is not comfortable. It never was. The seed does not crack open gently. The Persephone who returns from the underworld does not skip. She carries winter in her body like a second skeleton. She is changed in ways that won’t be visible until summer, until the fruit comes, until the consequences of all that darkness finally show themselves as something the living can recognize.
Growth is not a reward for surviving. It’s what survival costs you.
And the equinox arrives anyway, right on schedule, requiring nothing from you except your willingness to stand in it.
