❤️‍🔥🕯️Practice: Energetic Break from the Past

Category: emotional healing / subconscious work / closure practices

Иногда самое трудное — отпустить не человека. Самое трудное — вернуть себе ту часть себя, которая осталась жить в прошлом....

Why the past keeps holding us back

Sometimes, after a breakup, months or even years pass, but inside there's still a lingering sense of something unfinished.

The person has long been gone from our life, but we continue having mental conversations with them, returning to shared memories, searching for answers, or imagining how things could have turned out differently.

Many people call this an energetic connection.

Whether you take this literally or see it as a metaphor for inner attachment, the feeling itself is familiar to many: a part of your attention seems to keep living in the past.

And it's not always just about love.

Often, we're not holding onto the person themselves, but onto the version of ourselves we were when we were with them.

How to know the connection hasn't ended yet

Sometimes this shows up in very subtle ways.

You might:

  • mentally continue conversations with the person;
  • wait for their reaction, even though there's been no contact for a long time;
  • compare new people to the past;
  • seek validation of your worth through that relationship;
  • feel like part of your energy somehow remains there.

This doesn't speak to weakness at all.

It speaks to the fact that there's still a story inside that needs closure.

What "breaking the connection" actually means

Breaking free doesn't mean forgetting the person.

It doesn't mean erasing the memories.

It doesn't mean pretending nothing happened.

Rather, it's the moment when the past stops controlling the present.

You're no longer living in expectation.

No longer returning to the same thoughts over and over.

No longer building today around yesterday's story.

The memory remains. The story remains.

But along with it comes freedom.

Why it's so hard to let go

We often think we can't let go of the person.

But sometimes we're holding onto something entirely different.

That part of ourselves that felt love when we were with them.

That believed.

That opened up.

That dreamed.

That's why letting go can feel like losing a part of yourself.

But that part never disappeared.

It's been inside you all along.

You don't need to search for it in another person.

You can reclaim it.

Through a practice that has helped me more than once.

❤️‍🩹🙏 The practice of returning

Find a few quiet minutes.

Sit or lie down comfortably.

Place your palm on your chest.

Take a few slow breaths.

And mentally say:

I am grateful for this experience.

I reclaim my energy.

I release what no longer lives within me.

I choose to be whole.

I choose to be myself.

I take back everything I once invested in another person.

And I release everything that never belonged to me.

After this, imagine a thin thread between you.

You don't need to tear it.

You don't need to struggle.

Imagine it gradually dissolving in a soft light.

Without pain.

Without anger.

Without guilt.

You're not destroying anything.

You're simply choosing to stop living inside the past.

And if you feel called to say something more, you can complete the practice with these phrases:

I am grateful for the experience.

I reclaim my energy.

I release what no longer lives within me.

I choose to be whole.

I choose to be myself.

I take back everything I gave and everything I invested in you.

I release what doesn't belong to me.

And I no longer hold onto what isn't mine.

You're not tearing out the past. You're simply choosing to stop living in it.

🔥Breaking the energetic tie isn't about an ending. It's about making space for something new. When the connection is complete, you don't feel emptiness. You feel stillness.

And in that stillness, a new and authentic you emerges.

You suddenly begin to feel yourself. And that's the truest sign of freedom.

What might change afterward

Sometimes after such inner practices, there's no immediate relief.

First comes silence.

It might feel unfamiliar because there's no longer that constant internal dialogue with the past.

Over time, this silence becomes space.

Within it, room appears for new thoughts, new feelings, new encounters.

You still remember your story.

But it no longer defines your present day.

And one day you notice that you wake up in the morning and your first thought isn't about the past.

But about yourself.

🌙 In closing

Returning to yourself rarely happens in a single day.

It's not about fighting memories or trying to forget the person.

It's about choosing to become the main person in your own life again.

When the past stops taking your attention, space appears inside for the present.

And that's when a feeling arrives that can't be mistaken for anything else.

Not emptiness.

But a quiet, peaceful freedom.

It's when you've stopped living with the sense that there's still someone else inside.
