How to Nurture Your Root Chakra

A mini guide for your bodily sanctuary

The root chakra is also called muladhara chakra, and is located at the base of the spine. Although the chakras are not physical entities, but active energy centres, we identify the roots near the end of the spinal chord as it represent the anchoring point for the rest of spine, giving structure, security and stability to the whole body.

  • The associated color is Red, with the lowest frequency and the longest wavelength (around 700 nm). We could traslate this information with solid energy, low frequencies remind us of the importance of rest (or tamasic time) in our life. Reminding us that to stay grounded in our physical bodies, to take time to recharge is essential for our health. To stay in touch with the physical elements and aspects of life.

How to balance the root chakra:

  • Slowing down allows us to take care and water our roots, like a tree that can easily stand tall in the middle of a storm because it trusts its roots, they are strong and full of resources to keep the whole tree going whatever the weather. Take time to honour your stillness.

  • Walking barefoot on the ground or in your house mindfully connecting with the sensations arising in each step.

  • Connect with your ancestor and family members, search for they stories, their challenges and successes, you might discover parts of yourself to be proud of and new challenges to take on with an open and kinder approach.

  • Make sure your diet is not missing in proteins as they are the the structural parts of your body cells, they are the building blocks of muscles, they play an important role in maintaining and supporting physiological functions like boosting immunity, fertility, neurotransmitters synthesis and endocrine secretions. Eat red fruits and vegetables.

  • Use Journal prompts: how do I take care of my body? Based on the knowledge that your body is the temple of your soul how are you going to show more love to it?

  • Use this affirmations: I have a strong and resilient body, My body is a miracle, I am anchored and connected to Mother Earth, because my body is a perl of her neckless of infinite beauty.
