How Spirit Guides Show Up When We Need Them Most.
Article · 4 min read · ·
I used to spend so much time wondering about the soft, secret ways spirits guide us, the quiet helpers who wander into our lives right when we need them most, leaving light wherever they step.
It reminds me so much of the movie The Preacher’s Wife, where Dudley (played by Denzel Washington) shows up like a breath of fresh air. He doesn't show up with grand, magical dramatic tricks; instead, he gently reminds the preacher how to make time for love, and he whispers to the wife that the spark inside her heart and marriage never really went away. He teaches us that true magic is simply bringing people back to joy.
And if you pay attention, sweet little angels like that show up for us every single day; sometimes on four legs! 🐾✨
Here in Brazil, a little stray dog comes up to my portão (gate) every single day. At first, I’ll admit, I thought she was just a funny little intruder! But then I found out her name is Luna which means Moon in English 🌙🩷. She has the sweetest bright honey eyes and the most adorable, playful soul. Even though she technically has owners, she loves accompanying me, my husband, and our German Shepherd to the park. She’ll wait so patiently just to trot along next to us all the way to the market and through our local bairro.
I’ve realized she always shows up right when my heart needs a little extra comforting. While I give her a safe space and sweet love, she gives me the softest, most comforting presence in return.
Whether it’s a dog with honey eyes, a sweet stranger in a shop who says the exact word you needed to hear, or someone who gently points you in the right direction, these are our Earth Angels. They step into our lives for a fleeting season to hold our hands through a moment. And even when their physical mission is done and they move on, the warmth they leave behind stays forever.
Just like Dudley tells the little boy in The Preacher’s Wife: when we close our eyes, the ones we love are never truly gone. They live on inside us; in the memory of their laugh, the warmth of their hugs, and the soft tone of their voice. 💖
💕 How to Invite Your Angels & Honor Loved Ones 💕
If you want to feel wrapped in the love of your spirit guides, earth angels, or sweet loved ones who have passed, you don't need anything fancy! Just a cozy space and an open heart. Here are a few lovely ways to connect:
-
Create a Soft Moment of Invitation: Light a pretty candle, sit near a sunny window or under the trees, and whisper a gentle intention: "I welcome loving guidance, comfort, and sweet energy into my day today." Then, just move through your day with open eyes and a gentle heart.
-
Pick a "Cozy Memory Anchor": Choose a small, pretty object—a smooth pink crystal, a shiny coin, or a sentimental piece of jewelry. Whenever you hold it, close your eyes and picture your loved one's smile, hearing their laugh or remembering the comfort of their sweetest hug.
-
Look for Their "Little Whispers": Angels love leaving cute little signs to let you know they’re around! Watch out for repeating numbers on the clock, a little bird landing nearby, a favorite song playing out of nowhere, or a sweet dog trotting up to your gate. When you see it, just smile and say a soft "thank you."
-
Be the Angel in Someone Else’s Story: Love is a circle! When you miss someone dearly, channel that tenderness outwards. Buy a coffee for someone, leave a sweet note, feed a stray, or share a kind compliment. Often, when you step up to be an Earth Angel for someone else, you feel your own guides standing right beside you.
