Celtic Tree Wisdom for Shadow Work

Celtic Tree Wisdom for Shadow Work

The Ogham Path to Healing

Long before the Celts had written language, they had the trees. Each tree was a teacher, a healer, a keeper of specific wisdom. The Ogham alphabet, ancient Celtic tree letters carved into standing stones, wasn’t just a writing system. It was a map of transformation, with each tree offering medicine for different aspects of our journey through shadow.

When we’re lost in our darkness, sometimes the steadiest guides are the ones who’ve been standing rooted in earth for centuries, weathering every storm.

The Language of Trees

Oak (Duir): Strength and Endurance

Willow (Saille): Grief and Emotional Flow

Birch (Beith): New Beginnings

Hawthorn (Huath): Protection and Heart Healing

Yew (Idho): Death, Rebirth, and Transformation

Rowan (Luis): Protection and Psychic Clarity

I hope that we can all learn lessons from the ancient spirits within the trees. My personal favorite has always been the Oak.

I always found this topic. Interesting. I am a practicing Celtic eclectic witch. Each birth month has its own tree. Mine is the Rowan. I always try to have Rowan oil on hand to add a little extra in my spells and it also helps with calming energy. Someday I would like to plant a rowan tree in my yard.
