Circe’s Gift

The Power of Knowing Your Own Magic
A note before we begin: This piece moves through themes of self-silencing, the fear of being too much, and the grief of a smaller life. It’s written for those ready to look at those patterns honestly, not to destabilize, but to illuminate. If this material brings up something larger than feels manageable right now, please read it alongside a trusted support person or save it for steadier ground. There’s no rush. Circe has been waiting on her island a long time.
Somewhere along the way, you learned to make yourself easier to be around.
You learned the right volume. The acceptable amount of certainty. How much to know before someone found it threatening, how much to want before it started to read as grasping, how much to be before the people around you got that particular look on their faces, the one that means you’ve crossed a line no one ever drew for you out loud.
You got very good at it. You probably still are, and if you’ve spent any time in honest self-examination, you’ve probably already suspected that this skill, this fluency in smallness, has cost you something real. That somewhere underneath the very practiced management of how much of you gets to show up, there is a version of you that stopped waiting to be invited and just started being. Fully. Without the volume turned down.
Circe knows that version of you. She’s been waiting for you to find her.
