What the Soul Shows...
You may have asked yourself, why do we dream? What is the purpose of dreams?
These are common questions for everyone who begins their journey through the portals of night.
When the soul disconnects from the body during sleep, it enters other spheres โ and dreams are the footprints left by the spirit on its nocturnal journey. The purposes of dreams are related to awakening, integration, and revelation.
โ๏ธ๏ธ I will bring some of the main purposes of dreams โ according to the mysteries of deep psychology, mystical traditions, esotericism, and ancestral wisdom.
ย ย ย ๐คน Revealing the Unconscious
First, dreams show us what is hidden from consciousness, from the naked eye, such as fears, desires, unspoken truths, and unlived potential.
Dreams present us with what needs to be seen, even if they come in symbols, metaphors, or distorted mirrors.
ย - What we deny while awake, the soul shows us in dreams -
๐คน Communication with the Soul and the Divine
Dreams are messages from the soul to the personality. When we dream of lights, spiritual figures, voices that give us knowledge, temples, deep and clear waters โ we can interpret it as spiritual communication, our beings of light wanting to pass on some message, teaching or warning to us.
In occultism, we call them dream visions of the Higher Self.
In Umbanda, they would be messages from guides or protectors.
In Kabbalah, they are echoes of the soul ascending through the sefirot.
๐คน Healing and Integration
Dreams are symbolic medicine. They stitch together the wounds of the psyche, integrate old traumas and release emotional tensions that the body could not release while conscious.
It is common that, after dreaming about something "heavy" (with deep personal meaning), we wake up feeling lighter. This is dream release.
Even nightmares have a healing purpose, because they show what needs to be faced in order to be freed.
ย ๐คน Guiding the Path and Decisions
Many dreams bring answers, warnings, guidance and even predictions.
They show what is misaligned and how to realign it, which direction to take and the next step to take.
Dreaming about roads, maps, stairs or doors usually indicates a call to make decisions or end cycles.
Ancient oracles used dreams as a compass for how to act in the conscious.
๐คน Revealing the Life Mission
Repetitive, epic or mystical dreams are usually linked to the calling of the soul.
They reveal gifts, vocations, spiritual tasks or talents that your consciousness has not yet assumed.
It is common for prophecies, mediums, healers and priestesses to have dreamed about this before waking up.
People who tend to run away from their calling dream of chaos, labyrinths or persecution.
ย ๐คน Connecting with other Dimensions
In many dreams, especially vivid ones, unconscious astral travel occurs.
Taking you to spiritual planes, encounters with disembodied beings, realms of purification (such as the Umbral or the Elemental Plane), past memories or even past lives.
Not all dreams are imagination. Some are memories of the spirit in transit.
๐คน Releasing the Ego and Remembering the Self
The last and deepest purpose is to undo the illusion of the ego.
In dreams, you can be everything: tree, child, water, fire, shadow, love and monster.
This is because the Higher Self is multiple, and dreams help you remember that you are not just the limited personality of the day, you can be anything and everything.
Reminding us that every form of life is sacred, every life has a purpose.
เผบ Dreaming is living behind the scenes of the soul เผป
Dreaming is where consciousness unties itself from the bonds of time and remembers who it is.
It is where the spirit works while the body rests.
Dreams are seeds of the invisible that grow in the soil of the awakened heart.
ย ย ย โฝ Dreaming with Purpose
For those who wish to have dreams about a certain situation, decisions, choices or to work on an issue that you consciously believe you cannot develop, I have prepared a nighttime ritual to be performed before going to sleep.
Inspired by the dream incubation traditions of ancient Greece, shamanic lucid dreaming rituals and hermetic teachings about the soul in nocturnal transit.
This ritual aims to prepare the body, mind and spirit to receive answers, visions, healings and messages during sleep โ and to remember the dreams upon waking.
๐ Night Ritual: โMay the Dream Reveal Meโ
The intention when practicing is to dream with lucidity, purpose and spiritual openness, awakening with clear memory and meanings experienced during the dream revealed upon waking.
Materials:
โข White or violet candle
โข A sleep crystal (amethyst, selenite, milky quartz or labradorite)
โข Lavender, myrrh or sandalwood incense
โข Dream notebook (or ritual leaves)
โข Calming essential or floral oil (optional)
โข A glass of water or chamomile, mulungu or valerian tea
โข Symbolic item linked to the question or intention (photo, symbol, rune, tarot card)
๐ Step by Step:
1. Silent Bath
Before going to bed, take a silent bath, focusing only on your breathing and your body. Imagine that the water washes away mental interference.
โLet the body be still, let the soul be prepared.โ
2. Preparing the Sleeping Space
โข Light the candle and incense in the bedroom with low light.
โข Place the crystal under the pillow or next to the bed.
โข Write in the notebook:
โTonight I wish to dream clearly aboutโฆโ (write the question, desire or purpose of the dream).
Examples:
โข โWhat is the next step on my spiritual path?โ
โข โWhat do I need to heal at this stage of my life?โ
โข โWhat is my unawakened spiritual gift?โ
โข โWhich guide or ancestor can I reconnect with?โ
3. Ritual Declaration (before sleeping)
With the candle lit, in a soft and heartfelt voice, say:
โLet the veil lift.
Let sleep not hide me.
Let my spirit walk where the light calls me.
Let me dream with purpose.
Let the dream reveal me.
Let me wake remembering.โ
Then, blow out the candle with reverence.
4. Sleeping in a receptive position
Lie down with your hands on your heart or with the crystal in your left hand.
Repeat internally:
โI am ready to receive. I am ready to remember.โ
โ๏ธ Upon waking:
Keep your eyes closed for 1 to 2 minutes.
Ask yourself: โWhat did I see? What did I feel? What was left?โ Write it down immediately, even if it seems confusing or fragmented.
Donโt try to interpret it yet โ just record it.
Mark the dream with a keyword or symbol (color, number, image).
๐ Tips:
โข Use the same intention for 3 nights in a row (this activates the unconscious response).
โข Repeat this ritual on nights of the Waxing, Full or Waning Moon, depending on the type of dream:
the Waxing: dreams of guidance.
the Full: dreams of revelation.
the Waning: dreams of cleansing and healing.
โจ Advanced Ritual (optional):
On the 4th or 7th night, ask to dream with your spirit guide, power animal or female ancestor.
Wake up and draw what you felt or saw.
Light on your path โ๏ธ๏ธ
