Common mistakes when performing magic

Why your magic might not be working as you wanted

Magic is not an exact science, nor is it a miracle, but of course, this doesn’t mean it’s not real. Whether you're a beginner on your path or an advanced practitioner, you certainly had failures in your path. It might have been a spell going crazy or just not manifesting at all, so here is a guide on all things about magic you should keep in mind while composing and casting your spell.

Let’s first address the basics, the three pillars to a successful spell are: desire, emotion and knowledge. Your desire is basically your intention, if it’s justified or not, that’s up to you to decide. Is a job offer something you really desire? Or maybe you’re a follower of the “harm none” and believe that trying to manifest that might take away the opportunity of others? Whatever your reasons are, if it’s something you can concentrate and believe enough, with no second guessing, that’s your desire. Additionally, this desire will certainly make an emotion rise, listen to that emotion first. You might feel thrilled with the idea of manifesting your desire — or maybe you will feel scared. First, get to know the emotions bubbling up, filter them, and choose the emotions you wanna tap in in the spell. If you feel afraid of it going wrong, you may wanna release that first before casting and letting the emotion that will fuel the spell fulfill you completely. You can think of the desire being your destiny, the emotion being the gas and finally, the knowledge being your GPS. Gathering knowledge might be the most laborious work you will have to do. It’s knowing what allies will compose the spell, when to cast it, what will influence it, etc. It's the how to get there.

But of course, casting spells are not just influenced by these pillars. Skill is a great part of it, and it does get better with practice, as long as you learn from your mistakes — and that’s what I want to touch on. The three pillars might serve as a rule of thumb to follow, was it a strong intention? How have you moved your power through your emotions? Did you concentrate enough? Did you have the skill to perform that kind of spell? Did you use the right tools? But there are other factors as well, is there something you should have done before the spell? This includes a lot of questions, like if there’s something or someone stronger than you opposing your will, or if you’re doing the work in the mundane for the spell to manifest, or maybe you didn’t divine on your doubts to understand the bigger picture so you could make the smartest move. Essentially, to perform magic it is very important to listen first. Listening to yourself and the environment around you — either people or nature itself — is the first step you should always be taking.

Like I said, magic doesn’t perform miracles, nor is a science, because it can’t be done on free demand. Magic is much more than mixing herbs around a candle and waiting for the results, it’s a way of living, a way of provoking change in your life, so you can become a better version of yourself on every step you take. There is no spell that you’ll fix everything at once, because magic should be incorporated in every part of your day, especially because every act is magical. Magic exists, so it is something natural. There’s magic in saying the right words to a friend that’s going through something, in making your meals every day, in caring for the spirits that work with you. It’s all about keeping yourself mindful.

For me intention seems to be the reckoning force. If the intention, conviction, is not there solidly the spell will be weak if at all.

…interessant! Für mich ist am schwierigsten das Loslassen des Wunsches oder der Absicht. Wie lässt man bloß los?
