THE PURPOSE OF OUR SOULS' DNA

The DNA in our souls leads us directly toward a life designed to help us transform our Desire to Receive into a Desire to Receive in Order to Share—or in other words, it helps us become more like the Light that created us.

To help us achieve this, Abraham the Patriarch and other great Kabbalists revealed information about the influence that the stars and planets exert each month. With this foundational knowledge, we can identify the various energies influencing us at every moment of our lives, and we can harness the energies that benefit us while protecting ourselves from harmful ones.

There are no bad signs or bad times, only different opportunities. Understanding these opportunities makes it easier to make our corrections and do the necessary work to elevate our souls.

Kabbalah has a unique way of viewing the world, one that positions us as the link between the Upper World and the Lower World.

Remember: humanity was created as the Vessel to receive the Light. But the Light is powerful. If we received it all at once, we'd probably end up as smoke. It would be like getting struck by lightning—too much voltage, too fast.

Kabbalah tells us that the stars and planets act as filters that allow us to receive the Light safely. Each astrological configuration, each month and its corresponding sign, blocks most of the Light and allows a manageable portion to reach us in the physical world. The characteristics of these portions of Light we receive are different for each sign/month.

That's why each month/sign has its own unique strengths and weaknesses. As you've probably guessed by now, the month/sign we're born in has the greatest influence on our journey through life. This is because at the moment of birth, the soul enters the physical body. When we take our first breath, we receive the seed of our entire life. But doesn't that mean our whole existence is predetermined?

If we receive the seed of our entire life with our first breath, why not just sit back and let whatever happens happen?

Kabbalah would answer: "Because a seed is just a seed. It's only the potential for a tree. It's up to us to choose among all the possible paths that first breath offers us."

If we give that seed all the right care, nourishment, and Light, it can become the best tree it's capable of being.

But if we don't do the necessary work on ourselves, if we don't consciously seek to transform our Desire to Receive into a Desire to Receive in Order to Share, and if we don't use our tikkun to keep us on track, we'll remain at the mercy of the planets.

And the thing is, the position of the planets at the moment of our birth doesn't determine our entire life—it only influences it.

They're seeds, not the full tree. That's not all. Beyond the influence of our birth sign, Kabbalah tells us that planetary energies also influence us at every moment.

It's not enough to know the strengths and weaknesses of our birth sign. It's also important to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each month/sign. Understanding the characteristics and energies of each month/sign allows us to plan our actions with confidence and certainty, regardless of when we were born.

Kabbalah tells us that we live within a predictable cycle of influences that repeats every year. Once we become familiar with this cycle, we can use the positive influences to our benefit and protect ourselves from negative influences. This simple truth is one of Kabbalah's greatest contributions to humanity's practical wisdom: the ability to schedule our actions at times of greatest advantage.

A few years ago, NASA sent a probe to explore the outer planets of our Solar System. To get it to its destination, scientists planned the rocket's launch so that Jupiter's gravitational force would slingshot it toward Neptune. In other words, by understanding the physical nature of Jupiter's influence on the probe, scientists were able to use Jupiter for their own purposes.

Similarly, Kabbalah allows us to use our understanding of the spiritual influence of planets and stars for our own spiritual purpose. By making the necessary corrections along our life's journey, we can give ourselves the best chance of achieving spiritual success. The understanding that Kabbalah offers of these spiritual influences is very precise. Each lunar month is divided into three periods, each with its own particular energy, and according to Kabbalistic teachings, generally the first 10 days of a lunar month are positive and therefore a good time to take action. Likewise, the first day of a lunar month is particularly positive and offers the opportunity to connect with the full potential of energy waiting to be manifested throughout the entire month. The middle 10 days are divided into five positive days and five negative days. The first five are positive up until the full moon, which in the lunar calendar always falls on the 15th day. After the full moon, the month's positive energy becomes very difficult to reveal; hence the five negative days, whose energy continues through the last 10 days of the month. All else being equal, for example, Kabbalah tells us that a person planning to start a business is better off signing the contract papers during the first part of the lunar month rather than at the end of the month. In this way and many others, Kabbalah provides a way to understand the different possibilities and opportunities that each day and each moment in time offers us. How we use those possibilities and take advantage of them is up to us.
