October 23, 2026 | Sun enters 0°00' Scorpio

Venus Cazimi: inferior Sun-Venus conjunction at ~9° Scorpio

Season: October 23 to November 22

Some years, Scorpio season starts slowly. This isn't one of them.

The Sun enters 0°00' Scorpio on the 23rd. On the same day, Venus, retrograde since October 3rd, reaches cazimi, the point of exact conjunction with the Sun. The following day, Mercury stations retrograde in Scorpio.

Three movements in two days. The season doesn't test the ground before entering. It enters.

But there's an important difference between depth and excess weight. What Scorpio asks isn't that you carry more. It's that you refine what you're already carrying, separating what has real value from what was taking up space out of habit.

The Venus Cazimi: The Center of the Cycle

When Venus forms a conjunction with the Sun during its retrograde, astrological tradition calls this moment the inferior conjunction, or cazimi. It's the central point of the retrograde cycle: Venus is between Earth and the Sun, closer to Earth than at any other position, invisible in the sky because it's merged with solar light.

Before cazimi, Venus was visible as the Evening Star, appearing on the western horizon after sunset. After this conjunction, it will gradually emerge on the eastern horizon, before sunrise, as the Morning Star. The complete cycle lasts eight months. This cazimi is the turning point.

In Sumerian mythology, this movement corresponds to the cycle of Inanna, the queen of heaven and earth who descended to the underworld and returned transformed. The journey wasn't about loss. It was about what appears when you remove what was merely adornment, what remains when only the essential is left.

October's cazimi is that point of return. Venus is leaving the descent and beginning to rise.

What Scorpio Governs

Scorpio is the sign of transformation that cannot be done in smaller stages. It governs what lies beneath the surface, what persists even when the surrounding environment changes, what only appears when there's willingness to look deeper.

It's also the sign of what is genuinely shared: pooled resources, real trust, what one person reveals to another knowing it carries weight. The territory where intimacy exists for real, not as performance.

With Venus retrograde opening this season, the field the sign governs has already been active for weeks. What Scorpio Season adds is the Sun's light on that same territory, illuminating what Venus in retrograde was reviewing more gradually.

The process doesn't need to be heavy to be real. Scorpio has depth, but depth can be reached with care. 🥀

Mercury Retrograde on October 24

The day after Scorpio begins, Mercury stations retrograde in the same sign.

With Mercury retrograding in Scorpio, the field may favor revisiting conversations that needed more time or more safety to happen completely. What was left half-finished in the realm of intimacy may find opening.

This doesn't mean every difficult conversation needs to be initiated now. It means that if there's something that was waiting for the right moment, this period may offer the ground.

The Leo-Scorpio Tension

Mars is in Leo. Sun, Venus, and Mercury are in Scorpio. The opposition between these two signs is the tension between what wants to be visible and what only exists in the intimate realm. Between what can be shown and what can only be lived.

This tension invites you to observe where you're using visibility when you needed depth, and where you're using depth when what's missing is the courage to say something out loud. Both have their place. The question is which belongs to which situation.

The Esoteric Meaning: Nun and the Path Toward Netzach

In the hermetic system of the Golden Dawn, Scorpio corresponds to the Hebrew letter Nun and to Arcanum XIII, which tradition interprets not as an ending, but as deep transformation. The path of Nun connects Tiphareth to Netzach, from the heart of the Tree of Life to the sphere of love, beauty, and sensory perception.

Venus is the planet associated with Netzach. What the October 23rd cazimi represents in the hermetic reading is precise: Venus, in its cycle of descent and return, is traveling the very path that tradition placed as the route toward its own sphere.

What crosses the path of Nun is not destroyed. It is transformed. The difference matters.

How to Work Symbolically with This Season

Allow the revision to be gentle. Scorpio Season may invite you to examine important things, but depth doesn't require haste. What needs attention can be examined at the pace you can sustain.

Observe what the October 23rd cazimi brings. The day Scorpio begins is also the day of the central point of Venus's retrograde. What clarifies about relationships and values on that date may be the product of the process that began on October 3rd.

Care for the body during this period. When the internal field is active, anchoring in the physical has real value. Regular rhythms of sleep, food, and movement create the foundation that allows the internal process to happen without overload.

Use Mercury's retrograde as a space for revision, not pressure. The field may favor conversations that needed more depth. But time is a resource you manage. What doesn't need to happen now can wait.

Stay in contact with people you trust. Scorpio is the sign of what is genuinely shared. This period can be traversed more easily when there's someone with whom what's being processed can be shared.

Reflection

In Inanna's cycle, she descended with all her adornments and returned different. What the Sumerian texts record about the return is specific: she came back. The journey wasn't about losing what she had. It was about discovering what existed beneath what she had.

Venus cazimi in Scorpio is the turning point of that cycle in 2026. The descent is complete. What begins from now on is the gradual ascent toward the Morning Star.

What will be brought back isn't identical to what was taken down. It's what remained after the essential became clearer. And that, usually, is more than it seemed when the process began.

O que permanece depois que o desnecessário foi examinado é mais sólido do que era antes de ser testado.
