Celebrating yourself, not punishing yourself

Hello my dear :) How are you today? I hope you are doing well and having a wonderful day! I have a question for you today — Is celebrating yourself important? Is it necessary?
Or maybe why should you? Why not just keep on judging and punishing? That’s what I decided to talk about today. Today, as always, take your favorite cup of tea, light a candle that speaks to you most, create your own safe space, and let’s dive in:)

Celebrating both the big things and the small things. Some days showing compassion to your anxiety is the biggest achievement, other days feeling like you can move mountains. Every day is different and there is something to celebrate in each one of them! I know, some days finding something to celebrate can be hard and uncomfortable, but keep on reading :) So why I chose this topic today - I wanted to highlight a moment where I chose to switch and to celebrate myself instead. Not criticize, not judge, but to celebrate even the littlest of wins. And how that impacted the moment. Often we can forget to see and give space for our wins. Even the smallest ones. In this specific moment I was feeling low, not wanting to do what I needed to do and felt self — judgmental as I was looking at myself in the mirror and my response was — no, I know better than that. So what I chose to do, I put on one of my favorite songs (Mega- Chariot), sang it to myself, and afterwards found things that I can celebrate about myself at this time while saying them out loud and looking at myself in the mirror 😍 wow, I don’t know if you feel it, but I feel it, the power of this little thing, little practice. Celebrating myself, even the little things, it gives space for positive feelings to evolve. Creates space where you feel like you want to do more because you are already proud of yourself and not judging yourself, or trying to shame your way into action, it gives space to create more and feel good about oneself. You become more like your safe person. I feel like we should allow space for all the emotions. Allow ourselves to experience it all. And remember to give thanks to ourselves and notice the wins, the celebrations as well.
So, in that moment I could’ve acted from the feeling of being off center and said something bad about myself, but it is the small decisions that add up. So, I decided to find what I can celebrate about what I have done (small things too- like baking cookies during the day which I was looking forward to) and what I am proud of. I do not like the idea of punishing myself into doing something, saying something bad about myself to do something ( for example, oh how stupid I am , can’t I just do it right ). The emotion, the energy in that sentence is negative and I don’t want to create from that space , this kind of sentence has not been in my vocabulary for quite some time now, and I can tell you — it’s awesome! So celebrating myself for trying, for what I have done, for example, I am proud of my willingness to try, I am celebrating that I tried. Or celebrating how I have worked on myself, how far I have come , how much I have grown. One more example I can give is — I have been learning how to read oracle cards. At times it goes great and I feel wonderful, but other times the channel and intuition doesn’t open or the energy is off. In that moment I do not punish myself, that would create a bigger block. Instead I thank myself for trying again, for keeping it up and I say that next time I will try again and maybe it will be different. I have been using celebration, encouragement and gentleness for about a year now and it has changed much about how I feel about myself and overall daily.
